the Gretsch plays again
Hi there again,
things look slow on this part of the forums, still as I continue to learn the trade I would like to share my daily studies,
here's a blues shuffle in F,

and a country blues progression
https://soundcloud.com/miguel-santos-62 ... ntry-blues
thank you for listening, any comments and critique are very much welcome

Yes, it's quite slow here, unfortunately I'm recovering from an open surgery and can't do much on guitar. But I can listenmiguelalmeidasantos wrote: ↑Tue Apr 27, 2021 6:25 pm Hi there again,

Both are nice playing and the Gretsch sounds great!
Not much to criticize (and nothing I could do any better ), you could maybe focus a bit on your bends to reach the correct pitch.

Thank you 12bar, you're very kind,
I feel that the Gretsch was constantly going out of tune and I missed some notes of course!
I love the guitar but since I swapped 10 size strings for 9s I've been having tuning issues all the time.
Ok, now that I blamed the poor recording on the guitar :) I can wish you the best recovery and fast as well.
thank you

Aye - can be slow, and i share in the blame for that.
My once regular visits here have really tailed off in retirement. I thought I'd have more spare time for things like visiting this forum. Retired people warned me that you end up with less time when you've retired and they were right!
I'm finding little enough time for any guitar playing and the blues is sadly being quite neglected.
It's a long slow process gradually getting your playing nearer to where you want it, and I have the impression that a player never reaches the stage that they're totally happy.
As a wise old blues player and teacher, Michael "Hawkeye" Herman said, "enjoy the journey and don't worry too much about the destination". Best piece of advice I've ever had about learning guitar!
Bends, vibrato, landing on the right notes at key moments and at chord changes - practice and practice. Make backing tracks your friends!
As I've said on another of your recordings posted here you are playing well and progressing very nicely on your journey - a feel for the blues is coming through - more than just the mechanics of playing the notes. Keep going like this - you'll do very well.
