greetings from behind the pine curtain

Post by doctorunderhill »

new to site. located in the now defunct village of Indian Rock Texas- about 5 miles outside Gilmer- the birthplace of Johnny Mathis, Don Henley, and most importantly the birthplace of Freddie King.
i'm 66 and have been playing-as best as I can- since 1963.
a long, long time lover of the Blues- Mississippi John Hurt, Skip James, Lightning Hopkins, Robert Johnson just to name some of all time favorites.
anyway i'm glad to be here and hope to trade perspectives on unbelievable gift that those early Afro-American pioneers of the blues bequeathed to us.

Welcome sir. Its great to have new members. You play guitar, I presume? Maybe you can teach me a thing or two, Mississippi JH is very advanced stuff for me. I never tried to play Skip James songs, I try and just listen to the recordings and its always a special experience.

:welcome: to our small community!
Looks like we're on the same wavelength!

If I ever visit the USA again I'll focus on the Delta and Texas... must be great to visit all these historic Blues places. :harp:

:welcome: to the forum!! :D

I'm just coming up to 65 and still have ambitions to play guitar well.
Even the very unlikely is possible!

A fine list of iconic bluesmen on your list of favourites - so much to admire in them and learn from them.
An improv a day keeps the demons at bay!
