Nice one Hans - unusual to see Jan take a secondary role!

Beautiful piece by Al - hadn't heard that one. Thanks for posting Gerd.
Lovely music and a horrible situation. :tears:

**************************

My listening is a bit widely spread these days, and a lot hardly features guitar much at all.
Also more and more female singers in my listening - beautiful voices that us men can't do.

Here's a random sample.

The Night sky / Mostly Autumn & Troy Donockley
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPFWFe6e4ZY
I only encountered Heather Findlay recently on an Ayreon album - so I'm exploring Mostly Autumn a bit now. Troy I knew from Nightwish.

Inside My Heart... Iona
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAVkXtA ... Gk&index=4
Nightwish led to Troy Donockley led to Iona. With the voice of Joanne Hogg. Dave Bainbridge does supply some quite audible guitar on this one.

AURI - Night 13
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYVmmWNskjs
Johanna Kurkela supplies the gorgeious voice, Troy is in there again, and Tuomas Holopainen chips in with keys, arrangements, lyrics, orchestrations and a song from the heart.

Floor Jansen - Sweet Curse (ft. Henk Poort)

A Revamp number revamped for a more conservative non-metal audience.
Need to hear some Floor every day! Nice to hear a musical theatre guy like Henk do so well in this style.

Separate post as it didn't work in the post above.

Thanks for the links, the Nighwish "connections" are wide spread. I like the "leads to" stories a lot, because that's what happening when I'm searching for new music.

I have an old vinyl of Colloseum I hadn't listened to for decades - the Valtenine Suite.

Not an easy listen, great musicians well known among other artists.

However, Clem Clempson led me to a record from a band called Bakerloo, made in 1969. It contains very Cream-like pieces but also a great jazzy version of Bach's Burree.

More good ones guys!

Colosseum 1969 - aaah, the days of vinyl and the 40 minute album! :D
Dave Greenslade and Dick Heckstall-Smith with very fine work on the title track in particular.
Nice fusion music anyway.

Bakerloo is a new one for me. I see they didn't stick around for long but plenty of moves on to later well established groups by the group members.
Liked the interesting adaptation of JS Bach which showed they were much more than the "heavy blues rock" label that I saw applied to them online.
I was finding in general that the slower more reflective parts of the album were more interesting and impressive.
A shout out too for the "Bring it on Home" cover of the song by the highly influential Willie Dixon.

Love that Henk Poort track Hans.
For someone with musical theatre background who had no experience of singing with any distortion to manage this version so well after a few hours of distortion training is mind boggling. His control over the gradual build of the song is also very impressive.
Nice to see Floor fan-girling her idol Henk in this one. The finish to the song was so beautifully judged too.
That series of Beste Zangers was wonderful viewing, and left me seething that nothing of that quality is allowed on UK TV, where everything has to be competition, judges and ritual humiliation. Our sick little society where humiliation and winning is all that matters.

A favourite of mine from that Beste Zangers series was a duet of Henk and Emma Heesters singing "Vivo Per Lei".
Henk giving Emma all the space she needed to shine, and encouraging her along during the performance.
She showed herself to be far more than just a YouTube cover songs artist.
A performance full of emotion and the language(s) of the lyrics doesn't matter. Very moving and uplifting.

Nearly 10 million views now I see - there's a few of those are mine.

Normally I run a mile from the growling / screaming vocals. Many a song I've heard the instrumental start and liked it only to hastily reach for the off button when the devil-voice vocals kick in.

For some reason I can cope with (some of) Epica, if it's just occasional.
Guess it's the beauty and beast of the vocals with Simone' s gorgeous voice making it all better!
The combo of her voice, kinds choir, and metal guitars is a wonderful concoction and there's plenty of melody in there to keep things sweet.

Bit unusual to mix symphonic metal and acrobats too.

I'm glad you enjoyed Scott's solo!
I didn't know Peter Green (please don't hit me!). Wow, he's deep!

I'm sure you now him - anyone nows Albatross or Black Magic Woman, made popular by Santana, too.
Peter gives you cold sweat, as BB King once said, like nobody else. He was one of the bluesiest Blues players ever.

Anyway, I'm not a country fan (western neither  ), but this guy could play pretty well, fast but melodic. You'll also see some other guys around him you may know

And, btw. - season's greetings, peace to you all!
