It's Burnin' Down In Texas...

Post by Blindboy »

I hope all our Texas members, and their families are safe from the wildfires burning in Texas. It's been a bad summer for fire in the Southwest. :yikes:

Oh man, we'll be glad to spend some of the rain to you. This was one of the wettest summers ever.

Hope you are all save! :fingerscrossed:

Thanks for the good wishes, Guys.

In my town the fires are not immediately threatening the way they were up in Blindboy's area earlier this year. :phew:

But the smoke cloud can be seen on the horizon. Hundreds of homes have been destroyed in areas nearby. :wall:

I know that Tytlblues, Lzyblue and probably a few others also live in this central Texas area. I'm safe for the moment and I sure hope they are as well.

The winds have died down so the firefighters will have a chance to get control. The whole area is very, very dry. We need less wind and some (any!) rain.

Thanks again for your thoughts,

I sow it on the news today, so big area are up in smoke and the (smoke)cloud are seen from far far away.

a lot of houses are burnd up, man it's one of the wurst things that you can happen, all up in smoke, foto's special things from famillie or things that are very special or you home, your place to hide from what ever, save place, when that is gone, it must be a nightmare.

So for those be strong if you can and the others i hope the fire will not come to the next town or other homes
play guitar like the wind, mysterious but definitely present....

It is a very scary situation. I hope you all will be safe. We are more afraid of water over here in Holland, but a danger as big as the fire is a horror. In mind we are with you and pray that everything will be allright soon :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed:

My wife and I was talking about this today we live in northwest texas, and it has been very dry and we have had many fires this summer. It normally is very brown here, my niece from Alabama calls it the desert, but this summer most everything has been black, luckily nothing has hit at the house but I know several firefighters that have been very busy this year, also several friends were being evacuated on a weekly basis, luckily they always got to go back home. No rain has been a very bad issue, we just got last week a very short shower, 10-15 minutes, enough to wet the concrete, and that is the first moisture since last november. But it is now starting to cool off a bit, maybe some moisture will now be on its way.

A friend of mine lost her house... It's ashes now. She has a place to live, and was going to try to go to her old house and salvage what she could, but it was too dangerous because of looters! :eye_rub: If she didn't live 500 miles away, I would escort her to her house and ensure that she could pick through the remains of her life. This is appalling! We just had the largest wildfire in New Mexico history, and many people lost their homes (not nearly as many as in Texas) and, as far as I know, there has been NO looting here. The difference between rural and urban living, I guess.

Looters? :yikes: That's hard to believe in a civilized country... I always thought looters were shot in America?
Anyway, I hope your home stays save. :fingerscrossed:

So - fingers now crossed for no fires and no looters for any of you.

Given what happened in the big British cities recently I can't say I'm surprised at the looters - just confirms how thin the veneer of civilisation is for many people. And on that depressing thought .... :away:
