I just noticed John Mayall is coming to Chicago. I'm torn about going. Anybody see him and do you recommend going?
Let me tell you what the blues is....

Go See ....Mayall

Post by Strummer07 »

tradrr ... I think I'd have to say .. Go See !!
.. As long as its not a Top Dollar gig .... I very much doubt you'll be disappointed
He is older and some of his old power and energy isn't so evident . but he's a true blueman
And ... he has a great back catalogue he always has a top band with him , I think Rocky Athas is his current guitarist ... (Buddy Whittington is doing his own thing these days)................So it will be a good sound.
He is touring the UK again later this year and I have him on my "go See" radar

Let us know how you get on

I'm going to see him in the UK in November. Strummer is right about Rocky Athos. Others are Greg Rzab, Jay Davenport and the Oli Brown Band. I have seen him over a dozen times during the last 40+ years and I have never been disappointed. He has a knack for putting together superb bands.
Go for it!!
