Howdy!
Howdy All!
New old guy here, actually been lurking around for a while. So a little about myself, been playing off and on for years, I play on a worship team at the church that I attend, I record bluesy song ideas, attend a local blues jam now and then, that sort of stuff. I like Chicago style blues, some more modern blues, blue rock and classic rock, typical old guys stuff! Some of the players I listen to are, Magic Sam, Otis Rush, Jr Wells, Luther Allison , Joe Bonnamosa, Waren Haynes, Sean Costello, Marc Ford, well thats the short list. Play a Les Paul Studio faded with Tom Short Marc Ford Humbukers ( awsome vintage style paf's), a Les Paul special with p90s and a carvin strat, play through either a Fender super champ xd or a Fender delux vm. Heres a couple guitar pictures.

and here are a couple of tunes I recorded:

and this one is my special, not sure if this was the tone I was trying for but it worked.

Been really trying to get more of that Chicago style blues into my playing. Anyway hopefully you enjoyed the tunes and pics, look forward to getting to know you guys! ratfinkdan

Ratfinkdan... that is some mighty fine playin' and I love the guitars... I'm partial to LP's as well. I really, really, like the Jazzy Blues tune with your LP Special. Glad to have such a talented player join the forum (another one... this is giving me a complex).

Re: Howdy!
Had a listen to your stuff and it's great. Always nice to have yet another Les Paul fan on the forums, was beginning to think the Strat fans outnumbered us but it's evening up now ;).
Also glad to see you are a fan of Luther Allison, he is one of my favourites and played with such fire, but isn't mentioned anywhere near as often as he should be when people are mentioning blues legends, he is right up there with all of them for me.
So welcome to the forum Ratfinkdan, hope you enjoy your stay here.

Re: Howdy!
Thanks guys
I had a Les Paul Gold top way back in the late 70s, the thing was like a boat anchor, would just kill my shoulder, got married had kids and sold the goldtop. Always wanted another, haven't had these very long but I really like them, the special was sort of a gift from my wife and the studio I traded a strat for it, swaped the pickups and couldn't be happier with it! Yeah there is just something about a Les Paul the way it looks, the feel, tone!! Remember seeing Luther Allison on tv probably in the 70s sometime and just being amazed by his playing, think I saw Jr Wells on the same show ( probably had Buddy Guy playing guitar with him ) just stuck with me, great players! Glad you guys liked the tunes, have really been working on my blues playing, still have a long ways to go, but its coming along slowly. Thanks!

Re: Howdy!
to the forum.
Two very nice guitars in the pictures and two very nice soundclips.
Those are great sounding PAFs in your LP Studio - Alnico II perchance? Shame we need to get pickups swapped for good vintage sounds.
Ah ha .... P90 alert!!!! .... great sounds from your LP Special. Would that I could pesaude the stock P90s in my SE Soapbar to behave like that.
Look forward to hearing more.

I'm glad your all enjoying the tunes and the guitar pics. VB, yes alanico 2s, I know Tom Short also makes vintage style p90s, all the reveiws on his pickups are very positive and their reasonable priced! Thanks Guys!!
