New song, original backing track, Slow blues C

Post by tytlblues »

Hi all, sure has been a loooooong time!! Hoping a few bluesmen are still around. Well, as we all do, I've been on quite a long hiatus from guitar playing. Call it a rut, busy with life.....or shear lost interest......but I dusted off my favorite Tele, and pulled out this backing track I made a few years back. I constructed a simple backing, bass, drums, organ, strings, and rhythm guitar. I will share the backing for whoever would like it. I hope this track finds you all well!!

Hello Tom, nice to hear from you
You haven't lost your magic touch, sweet notes... that's great  The BT has good mellow feeling.
I still strum every day, so and so. After I retired about three years ago I kinda gave up everything except strumming. Ill be 70 in the fall.
My physique is giving out, that is my legs, can walk about 2-3 hundred meters and then the pain force to stop, rest a while, and then I go again like a young deer.
I often pop in here to see whats going on.
This site has always been a warm place for me to be, TY Gerd, and all You others TY for being here and letting me to enjoy your music.

Cheers Pena

Hey Pena, 70 isn't that old! I've turn 69 lest week and still I'm riding my horse, and biking to go here and there!
And still playing the Blues everydays indeed ;-)
Take it easy!
Cheers

Hey gents! Looks like I’m the youngster……..I’ll be 60 in April! Peña, from the looks of it, being a hockey player, your legs have had 2 lifetimes!

I suppose staying young at heart is the key! We all have our love of music to enjoy in our golden years. Yes, this place is like coming home..

Cheers

Hi, old socks!
Yeah, sometimes I browse through old posts and wonder how the members are doing. Lots of great memories. :music1:
We're getting older, but that's still better as the alternative... :alright:
Blues fits perfect to age :music1:
Obviously, Tom, your fingers still now how to play to right notes at the right time!

That hiatus hasn't lost you your ability young Tom, and great to hear you playing again!!!!
Excellent note choices as always.

If you can pass me a copy of that BT I do fancy a go at seeing if I can produce something.

I'm just approaching 68 and usually take some comfort from the idea that you're only as old as you feel. Not on all days though!
I can still play the guitar and that I am thankful for. My father had to give up piano / clavichord playing at a younger age due to arthritic finger joints and I had feared with getting the same condition it would already have seriously impacted me. I don't keep my fingers crossed it'll stay OK for a long time because it's too uncomfortable to cross the fingers.

I'll echo your thoughts about this site Pena - very well said. :D

Hey VB, always glad to hear from you!!! I hope retirement has been treating you well!! I uploaded that backing track in the other sub forum......let me know if there is any interest in making this a collaborative song!!

Im always kind of disappointed taking a long break from playing....its not like you don't see your guitars sitting there.....just waiting to be played....BUT, we all know how life ebbs and flows!!!

glad to see you all made it safely through the pandemic, and hope we can make som music together!!

I see the BT and have downloaded it.
I'll play around a bit. Collab could be possible - I'll post back on the thread that as soon as I can about that.

Here's a "stab" at playing along to this BT.
Having a stab was what I fancied doing to the PC (with a great big knife) when I heard unwanted blips of noise when playing the piece back in the DAW.

Thankfully I didn't scrap it to try again (or give up), because having exported as a file the noises are not there. Just the DAW and Focusrite interface needing more system resources than the PC had available I suppose. Despite a clean reboot and disabling anti virus.
Doesn't compare favourably to the totally glitch free Garageband and Focusrite on a little iPad.
Wake up Microsoft!

Anyway - nothing new here, but at least I seem to have remembered a fair bit of what little I knew of technique.
I certainly haven't speeded up.
Hagstrom Viking Deluxe through Tonelab LE on a Vox AC30 sim. Played with right hand fingers.

:music2:

Now I'll go and rest my left hand finger joints - they're not used to bending strings anymore. :alright:
But thanks for posting the BT Tom - I enjoyed having a go at it, despite what I said above about the niggles. :D

No need for more speed, I remember an old collab "leaving spaces", that's what you did!
The tone is fine, the tonelab LE still rocks

Thanks guys! :D

The Tonelab LE was one of my better multi fx purchases. Cancel that ... THE best.
Solid, weighs a ton. Lots of metal. Knobs and switches for each function - no multi layer menu on a little screen rubbish.
11 types of reverb, 11 types of delay. 6 tweakable settings on each.
16 amps with 6 variable settings and adjustment for the effect of cabs.
16 pedals and 11 modulation fx again with 6 parameters to vary.
Plus enough tube effect from the 12AX7 (ECC83) to get away from sounding too much like solid state.

Got one too, still waiting to be used more. Not enough space on my desktop nor below, but once the kids are out...
