More Gills in a Pink Fish

[VikingBlues]

Sort of based on a fairly typical chord sequence of someone.

One track of acoustic guitar playing those chords and one track of it doing a lead line. Pretty much mostly pentatonic and a bit bluesy. Sort of..

If anyone wants a listen I've been trying to play some covers of the more folk type of songs the last few months. I like to try different things.

It's taking some time to get the voice to get in anything like the right ballpark for this sort of thing!

Any comments or advice gratefully received .... like "give it up"!

I did listen to all of them, and I hope you don't give up. Your voice fits exactly to those very melancholic songs, fragile and desperate.
They also fit perfectly to my current mood fighting a still unknown disease/infection (MRT gave no results).

Of cause I like the bluesy first one in E best...

As usual I've eventually smth to say, indeed!
Maybe a good idea to play different parts on different guitars... Different soundings often means different feelings and might help the lead guitar to come up like a second voice (contre-chant)... Just an idea though ;-)

Sorry to hear you're no further forward Gerd.

I fear that the use of the same guitar on the two tracks was down to sheer laziness. It's the only acoustic I have tuned to standard tuning and I couldn't be bothered retuning one of the others. At least you can't accuse me of being precious about my "art".

I like these quite a bit, VB. The Gilly one would be a fun collab if I were equipped to do a collab.
Don't fret about your voice. It's the one you have and it is never as bad as it seems when you listen back to it (believe me, I know about that!), and it will improve, the more you use it.
I'm enjoying the direction your muse has been taking you.

I'm interested that I turn to my Tanglewood TW133 Parlour (all mahogany) when it comes to songs, but nearly always the Vintage VE2000 GG for non vocal recordings. I guess all that mahogany suits my voice in some way.

I really like your addition!

The chord sequence seems to take the melodic line strongly in particular directions, so I think it makes sense that there will be similarities between our two versions.

A good thing anyway to have the two parts linked by some elements.

So far no members of the close family have had issues with Corona.
I've just been given details of an appointment for the first dose of a vaccine - involving a 60 mile round trip into the middle of a busy city.
Makes little sense when we're being told to stay local and stay at home.
In theory it's possible on the website to rearrange the appointment to another time or location, but in reality there are no alternative appointments to be found anywhere on the list.
Funny enough the UK Prime Minister said no one would have to travel more than 10 miles from home to get a vaccination. Yet another lie maybe!

I don't think it's a "real" lie, all governments of the world no matter where are simply swamped with this task. We have the same problems here in Germany, although we mastered the pandemic not bad compared to the USA or GB etc. And there are still people thinking their human rights are attacked by wearing a mask or being vaccinated...

I'm afraid in the UK we have political parties mainly inhabited by people who think that lies are acceptable and use them so regularly that it's become a habit that they can't break. All these lies then spawn a mistrust by the public in those in power and contributes to the disregard for orders given. I make this criticism about lies in general over ALL the parties we have, and I despair of where the UK and Scotland are heading as there are no statesmen and thinkers of any stature left.
