Noodling for a short video

Post by 12bar »

Just some simple lines for background music.
Avatar vst for the ambient sound, some vst strings and my guitars.
I used the main theme/chords a while ago and without new idea I made another version.

We paddled to the Dutch/German border, there's an old pile from 1938 in the bay.

 I have really liked your music for these sort of videos and this is no exception.

You have captured a sense of calm serenity and happiness in the music - which I assume is what you get from being on the water.

Another video noodling - inspired by "Taste of Blues".
Recorded drums (vst), bass, keys and guitar - no BT used.
Tried to get into a flow, but having not enough time for a one take record it's a bit crippled. Anyway - have fun. It's a tour through my hometown on the water.

I enjoyed that trip Gerd!

Well crafted track whatever your reservations, and my praise for to you for how good it is with no BT!
I liked the more rapid guitar to coincide with the speeded up film.

The canals look very well maintained and clean. A lot of canals I've experienced in the UK show signs of age, decay, crime and neglect.

Another one, tried a chord sequence with different vsti's and some guitar. Originally it was more, but Reaper crashed again and again killing the ASIO driver. Took a long time to figure out it was a bad vst plugin, because after each crash I had to reboot. :wall:
Anyway, used the remaining part, doubled it and that was it.

Excellent job - despite the technical issues you've come up with a perfect style of soundtrack for the video.

Good job in getting feeling into the VST track as well as the guitar part. Good choice of key too!

Another meditative noodling for a video... VSTi drums, sonatina orchestra, bass and a few guitar notes.

Nice update Gerd - your music captures the peace and tranquillity of these journeys so well.
I like the way you can bring those guitar sounds in that fit so well too!

When it got to the cows appearing, i couldn't help but think of Atom Heart Mother .... keyboard and guitar bringing hints of Rick and David to my mind.

I like ambience. You catch the feeling well and its much more meditative than my attempt to play ambience whit a guitar. :lefty:
A synthmusican, Oortone, composed a ambient song a couple of year ago where I tried to catch the feeling on my guitar. I
slaughtered the tune like rock  but it turned out good anyway in the end. It´s on the album "A Fabulous Idea"
on Spotify. https://youtu.be/5k8liwtvamk U catch the ambient very sensitive and your guitarplying is a minimalistic
masterpiece of art. Listened to all of your the vids. Maybe we could mix or ideas in a collab after the summer ???

Thanks! :shy:
Actually it wasn't difficult, I used a i-VII-iv-V progression with some Sonatina VSTi's (great free VST btw!), put a simple drum groove on it and noodled along.

I like your ambient work a lot - sometimes it has a Mike Oldfield touch (and I like MO!). Wonderful!

Part of my family in quarantine, myself having a cold (not C. I hope), so time to edit some videos.
The usual noodling and vst playing. Minor/major change over the circle of fifths...

Another most enjoyable video journey.

The progression might be simple but it's what you do with the phrasing and the note emphasis that makes it special!
Lovely stretches of guitar noodling too.

I'm glad you mentioned Sonatina. I'd been meaning to download it, and had forgotten about it.
