Update on the new Sheraton.
Update on the new Sheraton.
I like the Probucker pickups better than the '80 Gibson 490's that I had put into my '69 SG recently. They are very responsive and the coil tap feature is actually useful. I can set the neck pickup on single coil for rhythm and go to humbucker mode for solos and that works nicely. I can tap both of them and, with tone wide open and both volumes rolled back a bit, I can get a respectable country twang (don't do many country tunes, but a few...). If I use the neck pickup and roll the tone back about 25% it gets a nice fat jazzy/bluesy tone. If I run the neck pickup wide open it really snarls. The neck is fatter than my Casino or my Strat, but I like it. I have had any number of audience members come up and compliment my tone with it, and not a few have come up and commented on how beautiful this guitar is (must be the contrast with my beat up old Strat ). All in all, I am very pleased with the Sheraton.
On a personal note, my health has improved markedly in the last six or seven months. I got pretty bad the first part of 2017, but got a new pulmonoligist who has helped me quite a bit. The TWBB is still playing regularly, and even doing gigs in other towns lately (and getting paid! ) I still can't record at home, but that's OK. I don't post much here, and have trouble listening to recorded tracks because of my crappy internet connection, but I still swing by from time to time to check in.
Hope everyone here has a great 2018!

Lots of good news!
Health sure is the most important
But having a good guitar is the second, and I wish we could hear a sample
Did you modify the PU's it by yourself?

Those are the stock pickups in the 2016 model. I haven't done anything to it but play it. My brother did a set up on it and changed the strings to .11's before he mailed it to me. I am liking it a lot. It even stays in tune very well. (that's important... my house is 2000 feet higher than the village where I gig.)

OK, didn't know that. My old one doesn't have this feature...Blindboy wrote: ↑Sun Jan 14, 2018 7:14 pm Those are the stock pickups in the 2016 model. I haven't done anything to it but play it. Great news that your health has improved Blindboy!
Also great news that your band is still on the go, doing well, and is in demand.
Plus great news that the new Sheraton has ticked so many boxes for you.
It sounds very versatile and that will be a big help because as we know from videos you've uploaded you do play quite a range of styles.
It's a nice wee bonus that it should have stock pickups that do the business. I only have 1 electric guitar in my collection that has stock pups.
I hope that things get even better for you and that 2018 is a wonderful year. That wish extends to all other forumites here too.
