Saturday night rig

Post by Blindboy »

I've been having some fun going to the Saturday night acoustic open mic that my buddy hosts at the local bar. After the dinner crowd thins out, we set up in a big circle in front of the fireplace and swap songs. There is usually a guy playing upright bass, a young woman playing a cajon, and several folks with acoustic guitars. I have been getting a kick out of showing up with a different guitar each week. One week a metal body resonater guitar, one week my 1932 Recording King archtop, etc... Last week I went full on vintage and brought my 1963 Alamo reverb unit, my late 50's Supro amp, and my 1952 Gibson ES-125. It was tons of fun, and I could turn it down enough that it blended well and still sounded good.

This is a sweet rig for very quiet venues. Next week I may use the same amp/reverb with my old Strat.
