Help with a couple Tab Benoit tunes

Post by hbtexas »

hey gentlemen ,.
I am new to the forum and fairly new to guitar too, Forgive me if this is the wrong area for this.

I need some help figuring out some of Tab Benoits tunes .. Particularly "Sunrise" tabs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4G0KajN5j8

But also the song "So High"
Searched hi and low for the tabs , my ears not there yet, and watched the video a 100 times ,Ive got the E. B and the A . songs a basic shuffle? But can not seem to get that little ditty on the low strings that he is doing between the E shuffle ..
Actually Cassey James does a version of "Tab Benoits So High" live on a radio podcast that is bad to the bone.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djkQ8PIFzcU
Note skip forward to the 5 min mark.

Any help would be great ,

Thanks in advance .!!

:welcome: From Sweden.
I will try to be nice.

The only thing I can provide is that you Google the, Tab Benoit tab. When you do that, it comes up several pages you can search further.

Best of luck.

Thanks for reply,
I have torn the web up looking for good Tab tabs., only a few that are even close,.
All the sunrise tabs do show the chords, (and after exploring many alternative ways to play each chord I get close)
No accurate tabs out there for Tab Benoit.

The "So High" tune has None available ..

I also am searching for his "shining moon" chords/ tabs anything.

Oh ,, and thanks for being nice..

:welcome: , too!

If you narrow it a bit down to a certain song and song part I may help - a youtube link with a time frame would help. :music1:

The low notes @ 5:15 to 5:19 mark , repeats its self many times between/in the shuffle .
Also the little high ditty at @ 5:58 to 5:59 mark .

I agree. It's hard getting older and trying to learn new things. The strange thing is that according to research, it should not be difficult with age if you keep your brain active throughout their lives. So I understand the research, but for my part it is much else that is spinning in my head and disrupts attention and focus.
I also agree that it would have started playing guitar at a young age . Imagine if you had parents who saw that they rather played guitar on tennis racket than tennis, then maybe you got a guitar by understanding parents, but now it was not so , unfortunately.

As I said from the beginning , I can not help you more than refer you to Google and search there. I have no idea where you can find what you want, instantly.
I understand that it can be frustrating to look in a jungle of information, but I do not possess knowledge of the latter Mr. Tab Benoit and where you can directly download a tab on one of his songs , unfortunately

Somewhere , there's probably a tab but it's certainly like looking for a needle in a haystack, as we say in Sweden .

Sorry. I can't do more than this.

From my ears (audio only), so the actual fret positions may be different, but the notes are OK:

Code: Select all

I--------------------------------------------5-5-5-----------------------------------I
I-------------------3-5b--5b6-5b6rb5p3---5/7--------5b-5brb 3------------------------I
I--------------3h4---------------------4---------------------------------------------I
I-------5---5~-----------------------------------------------------------------------I
I---5-7---7--------------------------------------------------------------------------I
I------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I

I'm so glad someone has started discussing Tab Benoit! I love his style, mostly from the basic raw form of blues. Fingers/pick -> guitar -> cable -> amp. That's it... no more, no less. Great entertainer too, a few YouTube videos of his on stage comic relief out there. "Nothing Takes The Place Of You" is another favourite Tab cover of an old Toussaint McCall classic.
