I don't know if it's the case here but a lot of very talented musicians have had to retreat when they find the "business" part of the music business has to be more important than "music" if you want to become a "success". I can understand why a creative artist would find the business side of music to be repugnant (widerwärtig, weerzinwekkend, motbjudande). Not to mention the media hysteria surrounding these TV talent shows.
