A slight storage problem...

Post by Blindboy »

Or how many is too many...
Since we have a small house, (living room, kitchen, bathroom downstairs, bedroom, computer room upstairs) my wife has decreed that seven guitars is too many to keep in the living room. Four is now the limit. That means that I have to make space for the other five in the bedroom and computer room (outside is out of the question!). The worst thing... what am I gonna do when I finally get that 335-style guitar I want? Not to mention the Les Paul... :wall:

Bedroom is the solution. With 5 guitars in the bedroom (+ a good amp) your wife may not be that happy... and wants them back in the living room.

The other option (new wife) may cost more than the ES 335 and Paula... :away:

Not really... we live in an A-frame. Most of the walls are not vertical. That rack of yours looks good though.

I like that rack, too.

What's the consensus with hanging your guitars by their necks? Any harm to them?

Well not sure about that, but I figured if high end guitar shops hang their classics up it can't be that bad. Besides, just like BB, the boss decreed I do something or loose em!

Let me tell you that i really don't know how many guitars is to much ( i have 20 examples ) But my 2e problem is that i did not only buy them but build them to. last Thursday, i get the task to build a Melobar Skreemr That is a kind of lapsteel that hangs around your neck so you can play it standing up. To keep the cost low profile the guy give me a donor guitar for the hardware.

What he brings me was a flattop Les Paul kind of Guitar with e headstock like an Flying V. It has a Humbucker in the neck and a single coil in the bridge. I has a scratch plate that was shaped to get the pups and the pots in and all so the jack. He has removed the frets and the strings where 0.14!! so the bolt on neck had the shape of a Bow. :tease: :yikes: :eye_rub:
The bridge was of a kind i didn't seen before. I stripped the whole thing for the parts and want give him the body and neck. But he didn't want it anymore. So i keep the rests. Yesterday i was looking on the Internet if i can find a similar model. First i see some Gibson L6 clone, but it has an other headstock, but two pictures later i found a similar model and i learned that it was a Merauder. a 2e look learned me it was a real Gibson Marauder :yikes:

Next week i start the Melobar project and gonna put some frets in The Marauder, and a single coil (860Kin the bridge) and a 1360K HB in the Neck 250 k volume pot 100k tone pot with a 0.47 in between. I am afraid it is a keeper and gonna-be the number 21.

I stack the guitar cases (6) at the left side of my guitar Garret and 8 of them at there side's in a rack, 2 downstairs in the living an the rest every where i see some space
