Drama on the way home from our gig...

Post by Blindboy »

On the way home from our gig last night (early this morning) I saw an SUV on the side of the road on it's roof, lights glowing. I turned around and put my blinkers on and started looking through the windows with a flashlight. I could see a man wadded up on the roof between the seats, but he didn't respond to my shouts, and the door was locked. I managed to flag down a car (late at night, up in the mountains, no traffic), and the driver agreed to go somewhere he could get reception and call 911. At this point the guy in the car came to and started screaming and thrashed his way halfway out of the car. He was in obvious pain and having convulsions. I got him to calm down some and hold still. I covered him up with my jacket and held his hand and talked to him until another car stopped, then again until the police and emergency responders got there. After all was said and done, and filling out a police report, it was well after three in the morning when I got to bed. Up at seven to go to work, and I don't even know if the guy is going to be OK.
Oh yeah, the gig went well.

I think you have more drama in a week up in the mountains than we have down here in a month. :yikes:

It's good that you happened to be going by and stopped.

Hope the guy comes by later and offers a thank you - or maybe buys you a beer.

:eye_rub: Oh boy - you DO lead an interesting life - and you're having trouble keeping up with things while recovering from your illness too - hope your three hours sleeep was enough for the days work.

The guy was fortunate you turned up when you did - I'm thinking you did all the right things there.  I guess I'd have been panicking like mad.

Never a dull moment in them thar Mountains!!

good on you Blindboy  ... a lot of folks might have driven on by.

He'd proably had a few sheberts over and above the norm ... and was happily codgitating his roof lining!!

Who know what happens in the Mountains !!

Never a dull moment, eh?

Glad you were able to come to the driver's aid, Bb. Where exactly did this occur? Mile marker?

A few years back, we were coming down the stretch from the pumice mine to the mail boxes at Sierra Los P and saw a Toyota Suv rolled over on it's side. The driver had caught a ride with a dump truck driver and appeared to be OK when I talked to them.

Where was your gig, btw?

DB, it wasn't far from your turn off... A bit below the crest of the hill coming up out of Rancho de la Cueva. (mm 28?)

Ah...THAT gig.

I wonder how long the vehicle had been there when you found it?
