All Over Again (Solo Version)

Post by MikeJackal »

As I said in the I've Got A Mind collab thread, this is my favourite blues song of all time and since the first time I heard it I wanted to record my own version of it. Peter Green's guitar work is my favourite solo ever on the live version on YouTube and it's after hearing that version that I began work on the collab thread. Since I've been working on the song a lot and playing it all the way through as well as just working up a short solo I decided to record a full solo effort. This song is always best performed live so I played and sang live to keep with the feeling.
As I said in the YouTube description I recorded this by putting the digital camera on the shelf of my desk which is where the speakers to my stereo are, this was quite successful in capturing the sound without losing too much quality but left the vocals a little quite in the mix....not a bad thing when it comes to my singing.
I love playing and singing this song, it just all seems to come so natural, the arrangement is a little different to the collab. version, I changed the timing of where the solo is and the chord sequence during the solo is now the same as the verses.
Rhythm guitar on the Sorrento, Solo on Les Paul...obviously.

Wow, that was absolutely amazing!

Your singing is excellent, very soulful yet understated. Guitar tone is excellent, makes me want a Les Paul

But most of all, your lead fills and solo are spot on, very inventive, great technique on bends and vibrato, and again very tastefully understated, perfect for the song.

From my own point of view, playing and singing at the same time is something I find difficult - I find singing difficult at the best of times, and it takes all my concentration, which leaves my guitar work seriously flawed. But you've mastered it here, great job :high5:

 Staggeringly, amazingly, incredibly wonderful.

Just two guitar parts and the interest is sustained for every second - the tone of the rhythm guitar is damn good but the lead is just beautiful. The singing is right up there in the quality stakes too - great match for the guitar tones. And the lead and the singing are such high quality but "live" too - something else that Peter Green was so very good at.

The spirit of the Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac is very much alive in your work Mike.

That guitar playing though - just WOW!! - tone, note choice, phrasing, emotion - wonderfully understated but hugely rich in feeling - I'm "green" with envy at what you've done here.

Job very well done

love the guitar part and the singing part, like they say it's hard to do those things at the same time
play guitar like the wind, mysterious but definitely present....

Well I really didn't expect comments like that, this song means a lot to me and I was happy with the recording but to hear how well it has come across from your side of it is really great. I cannot say enough how much your comments mean to me either and the confidence I get from them is more than you will know, thanks guys.
