A tribute to BBKing collaboration Jam ?
Hi Guys
As you have heard , I been playing rather much BBKing stuff.
And many of you have guitar types(ES 335) with sound similar to BB´s Lucille guitar.
How about a Blues collaboration in BBKing style on a free BB style backing track with "major" chords?
It will give possibility to use booth minor and major scales.
We could use a free backing from one of the lesson sites.

Sounds like a good plan to me. My Hagstrom agrees!

Sounds great to me! Don't know if I have the time to record, but still, I am all for it! I think my Epi Alleykat + Kustom Contender can approach a BBesque tone, though my playing might not... I do have a BB KIng in Africa DVD, though, just borrowed it, and will probably watch tomorrow... maybe it'll give me some more hints, will watch a bit more closely... if I can.
Re: A tribute to BBKing collaboration Jam ?
A nice chance to get back for me - if I get my @!#$§@! software running again. I hope soon...

just had a chat with my lady, and she said we can't afford to buy me 335

Not the fastest response, but January is my busiest least favourite month of teh year and all things guitar take too much of a back seat.Kalle wrote:Hi Guys

Don't know if this GuitarBackingTracks.com BT would be any good - showing my total lack of knowledge on theory I couldn't tell you if chords are major but it's got a good style to it and after a bit of manipulation on my DAW it's long enough for 4 players doing 45 seconds or so (first half of each players segement without the horns, second half with) and the 5th plyaer getting that plus a bonus of another half minute or so before the fade out.

Any interest?

HI VB
I am in on this collab.
It´s not a typical slow BBKing blues, but a faster (120bpm) Boogie Woogie rythm.
Its in A (according to my analyse SW=DMM), but the chord progression is not a standard 12 bar/3 chord structure.
I have to listen to some BB recording to find out how BB would play over this type of rythm.
It will be a bit of challenge

Sounds a bit like Every day I have the blues to me. See for ex http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJ1edU1dAG8
To my ears, the progression is something like a "quick change 12 bar blues":
ADAA
DDAA
EDAE

The chords progression sounds something like that to me too - for the first 9 of the 12 bars anyway - 10,11 & 12 I'm not so sure.
Still - that's one of the joys of the pentatonic - you can fit it OK to some degree even if you're not sure of the chords.

Re: A tribute to BBKing collaboration Jam ?
The bass line for the turnaround is similar to the one in "Caldonia" (which I think is in G), which I've played before.
So the BT here I think is like this for bars 9-10:
and this appears to be the 11-12:
So I assume that's a ii-V in bars 9-10 then, so the bars 9-12 were:
Bm E A E
A bit like on the fourth line on this chart:

or "Route 66" on this one: http://www.angelfire.com/fl4/moneychord ... scomp.html
So the BT here I think is like this for bars 9-10:
Code: Select all
D:----------------------------
A:---4-5-6--7-5-4-------------
E:-7---------------7--(5)-------

I actually went out an bought a 2nd hand Epiphone Dot today, and love it so far and why wouldn't I! Need to check how it sounds played loud in a band practice on Tue. But anyway, a few days away from my birthday, got me a best of presents for sure!
