what - confusion about modes and scales - surely not!!!
... when I said that "My Life" was using the Phrygian scale, I should have said the Phrygian Dominant Scale - the one with the major 3rd so in C the major third is E rather than the usual Eb for the normal Phrygian Scale.
There now - I bet that's made it all totally clear to everybody.
I now see that my "Guitar on Tap" book says of the Phrygian Scale - "It's almost impossible to apply this scale in rock and pop". I'm glad I didn't know that before!
