hi,
Since 2007 I'm playing in the Freewheelers Cello Band, together with my wife Ilene McHolland, who plays cello and sings.
We've been touring Europe and the US, and brought out a couple of cd's. We play with other musicians on drums, guitar and keys. Our Hammond player Willem van der Schoof won a Dutch blues award. Ilene plays a 6 string NS design electric cello and an 85 year old German acoustic cello.
This video contains one of our original songs, written by Ilene. On drums Manuel Montero.
Reus blues festival, 2015.

Currently we're in the running for the Haven Acres band contest, of which we will add video as well.
regards,
Bas Vossen

Re: cello blues
I don't recall hearing anything quite like that. It was very fresh and different, in a nice way, and pulled from several influences.
I am not very good at listening to music that comes is different from traditional sounds I have heard, but you, and others like you are showing me I might be missing out and some nice experiences.
And man, those cellos can create their own moods, very dark and twisted, or very light and lively.
Bravo.

Usually I don't allow promoting professional bands in the first post, but hey, electric cello with wahwah is so special I'll give it a chance.
Sounds strange at first, but works.

Re: cello blues
Very original and it works very well.
Nice to see a cello getting some lead work - I do generally prefer the cello sound to violin!
