Claptonesque

Post by cruisemates »

I posted a different version of this song before the changeover of the boards. This new version is much better because the backbeat is more supportive to lead playing.

Here is the deal - when I first tried soloing to this I had a VERY hard time - it requires a certain timing nuance, but once I got that down my playing actually improved a lot almost immediately.

If you need to tighten up certain phrases you do, this may be the track you need to practice to. I will upload this and if anyone wants to the backing track I will upload that later.

I play a Les Pasul standard through a Marshall JTM 30 miked with a Nuemann U-67 (built 1961). I also go direct through a POD > DBX over-easy > 31-band graphic. I record to ProTools through a Digi 002.

My driving philosophy about making music is that you can reduce it all down to one note if that note is played with the right kind of sincerity.

Wow - thank you for the flattery. I have been busy putting a new computer together so I haven't been here.

Yes - I am playing everything, including programming the drum machine. I you like I can upload the backing track and you all can try it. As I said, I found playing this song to be very beneficial to my playing overall - improving speed and dexterity.

By the way - you do know Clapton covered this song, right? on on the Ocean Blvd album. Funny, I loved this song and I neded up in the cruise business..... so.....

Anyway - if you want the backing track let me know - it has no lead guitar.

Cool - I'm glad you like it. No posted here for quite awhile.

If you guys happen to record any of your playing please upload it here so I can hear it. The thing about this song is that there was never much of a solo recorded and I think it is a great song to solo to.
