Fuzz Blues

Post by vancouverois »

Just trying the Squier Tele Custom 72 reissue neck PU with a Germanium Fuzz Face on
a Tonelab VOX AC30 emulation. The sound is not so bad, sometimes fuzz faces can be harsh
and sound like a cloud of bees.

Sounds good, didn't sound harsh, smooth with a bit of an edge. Nice tone and playing! Dan

Sounds well balanced, just the right amount of fuzz!

I can happily listen to fuzz when it's like this. So often it's that demented swarm of bees you allude to. :wall:

Good emulation from the Tonelab. But ... over far too soon!

Another try, this time with a Silicon Fuzz.
The Silicon FF seems to increase/boost a bit the lows and doesn't have the warmth of a Germanium one.
It's going towards the distortion sound, though any change on the guitar or pedal controls can completely modify the tone.

It's the Squier Tele '72 bridge pickup and tonelab AC30 emulation.
I could notice that both FF can produce an enjoyable sustain and this one doesn't sound that bad too.

I think you're right.

Not as much warmth as the Germanium tone. Seems just a bit more a a brittle sound, just a tad more jagged - the difference is most noticeable on the sustained notes.

But again a long way from the bad end (the demented swarm of bees) of the fuzz spectrum.

I too think the second one sounds more aggressive, less warmer, more energy, great for a power Blues.
