Love In Vain
After a major struggle I got this one down. Incorporating my five string for bass duties, my little 00 12fret for rhythm and my JJ on P90/SC for lead.

What a very, very good recording this is.
Beautiful guitar tones BTW.
I can identify with that. Having once tried this one and ending up with a recording of a very flawed version even after a long struggle - it sounds like a simple song, but it's so very hard to make it flow as well as this.choucas09 wrote:After a major struggle I got this one down.

Nice One Choucas - like it very much , a slightly different take on a Classic tune,
Almost got a Country Blues Feel to it.
and You're right , this tune is not as easy as it sounds to nail. There are a few versions in the Blues room and they are all pretty different.
I think VB has a recent version and 1 of them is a Collab ( MojoJim/GolfXzq and myself) and I know we wrestled quite a while , mainly with the BTand the feel /tempo etc- we used the Peter Green acoustic version as a template .....and of course , what Peter makes sound really simple ....is anything BUT simple !! - But very rewarding none the less.
But its well worth persevering , if you can end up with a "Keeper" like this

Re: Love In Vain
Thanks a lot folks for the kind words. For a start I had to learn to play in a pure major style which involved considerable practise. Then I had everything done except the vocals, but decided it was too slow so I upped the tempo from 88 to 92 bpm and started again. When it came to the vocals I reckon I did at least fifty full takes because my funny old voice doesn't work so well when used softly. In the old days I would have abandoned it, but my determination has increased with age(I turned 59 this month) so I got there in the end.

You're voice is OK. Nothing wrong at all.
Re: Love In Vain
This is very nice. Major key stuff is tough (at least for me) and you pulled it off very well. I like your vocals a lot too.

Well very nice!
Top notch playing, major sounds so different, and very good singing.
