A Major Ballad

Post by 2WheelsOfBlues »

Hey Guys,

I practice a few weeks on this song.
I've got some lessonbooks from a good guitarplayer (here in the Netherlands and he make some lessonbooks) and try to learn the technieks and stuff to play the guitar, the blues guitar
Everytime when i record things it goes wrong at different places and everytime on a nother place in the song, or the telefoon is ringing or someone talks to me. :wall:
but now i think it's work out fine.

Yesterday it was the first time the 2e fast part workt out well and i was :chicken:

So i send HBL a demo and he says i must put it on 12 bar, but i was surprised he react that way....
but to make a long story short... here it is;
Played on the London City Dakota white the railhumbucker and the Cyber Twin.
Record; by a spdif cabble to the pc and with Adobe Audition recording sofware.

download/file.php?id=1848

I have a new amp and i was long looking for this sound, turning and trying to get this sound.
Yesterday if got it, when i was done i put out the amp but forgot to save the setting :wall:  :wall:

Now i must start over again.

But now you'll probably have those techniques under your fingers forever...now you split them up and make them your own licks....presto, you have begun to build your own blues vocabulary!!!! Hot Dog !!

I can see exactly why HBL said to post it onto 12bar - it's massively good playing!

Your phrasing is excellent, the tone fits the backing perfectly, and the note choice has a great melodic style to it. If I'd been told that a real long established pro, say Jan Akkerman was playing this, I would have believed it.

This really has to go on the :HoF: . This is the sort of quality of playing that lots of us (well certainly me) aspire to, and can't reach!

My only disappointment is if I download the recording my media player can't find the right codec to play it - I'd liked to have had it on hard disc as there's a lot to learn from it.

Well, now I can use a normal keyboard in stead of that one my phone offers.... Here we go :

Our friend 2WOB is a bit on the careful side :haha: when it comes to my response yesterday evening  Here is a copy of my answer to his email sending me this little gem of a song: I'll translate after the quote :alright:

TOP

ik ben STOMVERBAASD en trots op je !

/Hans

Volgendekeer wel je telefoon opnemen he (mopper)
Please do remember 2WOB and I know each other for some years now ( in person to)

translation :

Hothothothotdamn...... I look the other way for just a while and I'll get overtaken.....
Manmanman how unbelieveble cool, beautiful and good, played with lots of feeling. tastefull man !. O, yes and a awesome guitarsound.
You've learned fast, controlling your playing good, nice executed notes and de delightful melody.

This song is passing my Alone in the crowd, it's much more diverse, more changes and has a better melody. TOP

I'm astonished and proud of you.

/Hans

Next time do pickup the phone ! (grumble)

Superb professional playing, you could earn good money as a session player. You must be delighted with your new amp too, wonderful tone. Five star stuff.
