Corona In The Sun, smooth jazz

Post by tytlblues »

Named from alaskablues from my last song. His idea of grabbing a cool Corona sounded great to me!!

Ahhh. About 3 seconds into it and I understand the "smoooooooooth" comments. Mellow -issimo!

You must have velvet on your fingers to get this sound. :D

Very, very nice.
I need more info. What guitar? Neck, or middle pickup position? I know you are probably using an amp model off of some kind of computer interface, but which amp model?
This is a sound I would love to get closer to in my own playing. A lot of it is in your technique/fingers, that's a given, and your technique is flawless, man. Great job!

Thanks for the compliments guys, i do apreciate it
Very much. I am away from my home traveling for a few days, so
I can't get you any specifics on the sound patch right now.
It is basicaly a clean warm pre set from the JS8.
The guitar makes the difference, its my Ibanez AF75, a full
Hollow body, which i have strung with .13 flatwound
Strings. I will post all the preset sound patch setting
As best i can this weekend!

Thanks for the update, tytlblues.

13's! :yikes:

I should have guessed you were using flatwounds. I've just gone to 1/2 rounds on my Epi Sheraton. I bought a set of regular flats, as well, but both sets are only .11's. My fingers hurt just thinking about .13's.

Yes allot of jazz guitarist even use 14's or 15's. If you
Have noticed, most prefered jazz guitar technique
Is purposely void of any vibrato and/ or string bending. That is
Traditional style, of course more modern fusion type
Jazz, anything goes. Anyways, so with bending not a concern,
Big strings are really not an issue.... And the flat
Wounds feels really smooth and substantially reduce string noise!
The down side is they can get a bit thumpy sounding in the
Low octaves.

Cheers
