Another take on Soul Blues

Here's another take on the Soul Blues backing track.

Played (in order) by MojoJim, Golfxzq and Strummer07 this is the latest offering from our small collaboration.

It started as a small project for us to demonstrate and to checkpoint our skills to each other. But the more we worked on it the more we thought it was something worthy of posting to 12bar.

We started as beginners on the Forum and we hope now that we may be at an intermediate level. We are very interested in feedback and constructive criticism.

The 12bar forum has been a source of support and inspiration for us. I believe we measure our progress against the good players here and hope that we are on a path to play that well.

Right on! Three distinct styles melding in one song.
I'm glad you guys posted this... Was wondering how y'all were doing, and this answers that question beautifully. For each of you, this speaks to the BT nicely, y'all each play well to the changes, and have good chops and tone.
Good job, guys.

Like Blindboy says - "Three distinct styles" but you've managed to make them fit together - the tones and styles complememnt each other and make the chageovers from player to player pass very smoothly - like a highly skilled relay team passing the baton without losing speed and rhythm.

I love this backing track and i love what you've done with it - the playing fits the BT like a comfotable glove - enjoyed listening to this a lot - well past the "beginners" stage indeed and the progress you're all making is great to hear.

 Definitely reached the next level! Each one developed his style and tone and it fits well together. Thanks for posting!
Not much to criticize at all - maybe you don't need too much reverb anymore...

What I think is important is that is very clear, you guys are, - and already have something of it-, developing your own tone / sound in your playing.
I don't mean the amp or guitar, but in your fingers.
To me that's the most obvious sign you 3 are way past the beginner level and already have quite some mileage behind the strings :)

Well done, enjoyed this hugely.

Ya know, I went beserk with this backingtrack, to me it seemed like the tempo was not at all steady, but changing at some places.
I never found out if back then I was creating the issue by playing two guitartracks that both dragged a little or that it was the backing.
Listening to you it must have been me. Then again, it's a little more than 3 years ago I did this one and nope, I'm not gonna link it, neither is anyone going to find it by name :naughty:

Top job guys, keep 'm coming.

Thanks for taking time out to listen , and especially to comment on our piece.
This little "off line Collab" has served each of us well , and we've been doing it for over 18 months now.
Hasn't stopped us doing other music as well !! So we are always available for other ideas !! ....but its a nice "home" and has been a great sounding board and learning group to play about in and experiment ..... before we post on 12 bar.

As MojoJim mentions , this particular BT ....was just a bit of fun to start out with, Just something to extemporise along to.. see how each of us interpreted it ...but we kinda warmed to the BT. There's just something about it (Probably that it has quirky timing maybe ?? :D ) ..and we decided to finesse it a wee bit & post it ....all Mixing down to Mojo Jim , who is becoming quite a specialist !!

Both MJim and I used Amps to record this .So its Blackstar HT-5 in my case and HT-5R For MJim direct into the DAW, (That is one of the Cool aspects of Blackstar .. they have an emulated Speaker out .. perfect for recording ....Might try mic;s next time ??)

We all used Strats ( I think) ......Golfxzq recording his via his Pod.

So what next ?? We are toying about with a good Old Blues in E ..........any ideas ? thoughts //challenges // for us to cogitate ??

Thanks again for all the inputs... As MojoJim observes ....12 bar is a great place and an important learning and sharing medium for us .. and the last month or so .. quite a "Purple Patch" in terms of Musical postings ! Some cracking stuff .well worth listening too. ( Like the radio idea btw )
A super Forum to be a part of!! Thanks 12 bar.
