Thanks Weelie for sorting that running order out - great help!

I've downloaded your no backing track recording - I should be able to get that onto my DAW and upload a new version with the VB and Weelie parts on it. Might be useful for 12bar segment 00:37 - 01:13 to hear what comes before and after.
weelie wrote:It has two guitars, haven't really done that kinda stuff, so I guess it gets too busy. Squier Tele and Epiphone Alleykat. Microcube on some setting, I don't know, didn't even check (played through a Zoom H4 hearing myself only acoustically when playing... and the two tracks were completely separate, didn't hear the first one when played the 2nd one)
Hey - you did very well to get a two guitar part to sound that good with not being able to hear one when playing the other. As for 'it gets too busy' - yep, I can relate to that. Trying to get two guitars laid down where the first part leaves enough space for the second, and the total of the two isn't too busy, and for the parts to complement each other but sound like it might be two different players .... ouch .... I'll let you know if I ever manage it. :wall:
weelie wrote:Anybody have some rules or pointers to multi-guitar layering? I am a big fan of JJ Cale, and sometimes I hear a lot of guitar tracks, that go together well, I was never able to do that...
HBL might be able to shed some light on that - I'm still in kindergarten on this. :D

Fellers, I may have to bow out on this one... I am still very weak from my pneumonia episode, and am having trouble keeping up with work, Monday gig, household chores (firewood, staining decks, etc...) that MUST be done before the snow flies. When I do get some time, if there is still a slot, I will give 'er a try.

Don't hurry, we've got all the time we need. I too need some extra time because of this damn attack.
Snow.... currently we've got the long missed summer back again with temperatures rising to 25 °C.

Now back to guitar :music1:

Here's the complete BT again with VB and weelie's parts recorded.
Collab with VB and weelie:download/file.php?id=1348

Whenever anyone links a copy of their guitar part if they want to also link a copy of their part combined with the BT as well that can be useful for making sure the parts line up right in my DAW.

and yes - there's no hurry at all.

Sorry to hear you're still struggling healthwise Blindboy - don't overdo it and I'm sure we can wait around if needed. Get well soon.

What ???? Take it easy, just when I have a new sound interface ( because the Emu PCi card won't fit in my BTO laptop. :naughty:
I have the day off tomorrow anyway :chicken:

But for now the short version with BT.

.download/file.php?id=1349

And the full bt-less track. The -s stands for semi stereo guitar.
Recorded, using First lady, Cybie and a M-Audio Fasttrack pro.
I still don't know whay to think of the fastrack's sound.....

I started with huge latency issues and pops and cracks. It was simple put the powersettings to full power in stead of powersaver :haha:

See whattaya think

Help - I need a pair of running shoes to keep up.

Here's the version with VB, weelie, HBL.

Collab with VB weelie and HBL:download/file.php?id=1351

Nicely done HBL - tasteful and stylish and meshing in with the BT so well as always. Very musical and the tone of your Fist Lady is coming through well on this now despite your interface / computer problems.

BTW - if anyone thinks i'm messing up on their part - timing / tone / balance or whatever a bit out just shout!

OK, here's my humble contribution... as usual Sheraton with Gearbox, heavy settings to get enough volume (and to vent myself a bit).
I have the audacity tracks as well if you need.
Obviously I have some trouble with the strange drum rhythm :icon_whoknows:

I think if anyone hs the right to vent themselves a bit after recent events it's yourself!

It's a great shame you have this struggle with your recording settings. I think you've battled through those problems with success again - I like this addition to the tonal pallette of contributions so far - we now have four quite different segments of sounds / ideas.

I admire your ability to stay musical when the settings get heavier - the phrasing and melody works very well against the BT and cross refers nicely to the opening part I did.

I see what you mean about the drum rhythm - I must have blocked that out when I was recording my part as I hadn't even noticed it - must have been too busy listening to the strings and trying to get a melodic structure going. Hmmm .... or it shows how I don't have a strong sense of rhythm. :icon_whoknows:

Yes - the audacity files would be useful if possible - saves trying to cut and paste in a seamless join (I'm basically lazy on editing recordings  ). Once I get these I'll get an updated version uploaded as soon as I can.

See attached - it's the zipped compressed form for audacity.
Alternatively I can send my track only without BT in MP3 format.

EDIT: attached now solo track as mp3!

I seem to be having trouble - first with a too old version of audacity, then with the current downloaded audacity vesrsion not finding some folders. :wall:
The track mp3 format without BT might be best - thanks.

Given these two posts can I suggest this. I have taken the original BT with 6 segments and done a cut and paste job to extend it by one segment (IN CASE WE NEED IT FOR BLINDBOY) to 7. In this extended version I have repeated the 01:49 - 02:25 segment.

So if ElMano can do this 01:49 - 02:25 segment and Kalle (no rush Kalle - best to work on it and do a good one  ) does the 02:25 - 03:01 as planned - we will have a draft of a complete piece with the original BT.

Blindboy - if you find that you are fit enough and have the time then you also do a piece for the 01:49 - 02:25 segment and I will use the extended updated file to include both ElManos and your recordings. So that means there is really no time pressure at all on you Blindboy - it can be done at some point in the future, but in the meanwhile we have a complete piece. Best you just recuperate and get well again.

So we have for now:-
00:00 - 00:37 VikingBlues
00:37 - 01:13 12Bar
01:13 - 01:49 Weelie
01:49 - 02:25 ElMano (Blindboy to also do this segment for the extended version)
02:25 - 03:01 Kalle
03:01 - 03:40 HalfBlindLefty

If an extended version with Blindboy is done it will be;-
00:00 - 00:37 VikingBlues
00:37 - 01:13 12Bar
01:13 - 01:49 Weelie
01:49 - 02:25 ElMano
02:25 - 03:01 Blindboy
03:01 - 03:37 Kalle
03:38 - 04:17 HalfBlindLefty

HOPE THAT MAKES SENSE!! :eye_rub:

I can probably fool around with it on Sunday.
Do I send you JUST my cut with no BT, my cut WITH BT, or both?

Hi Bb - both is the best option - I can usually gauge it from the no BT track only but sometimes it just helps being able to line up using both with the original BT to get the timing just right. Hope you're feeling somewhat better.
