BB attempts some Jazz...
This is a tune that the TWBB will be doing soon (probably tonight), so I figured I should practice a bit.
Found this BT online, and this is about the third take. I will improve (hopefully) with some practice... I think I am putting too much swing into the rhythm , need to play it a bit more four to the bar, maybe. I don't know...

Comments/critique welcome.

Always pleased to see a Blindboy recording appear and the Jazzy ones are always interesting.
So comments ... yes. Critique? - maybe not - I know nothing much of jazz.
So after wrestling with soundclick which seemed reluctant to say hello at first:-
Sounds good 'n' Jazzy - certainly more like the Kenny Burrell version I found than the SRV. The rhythm and swing of the recording sounded good to me - a nice fit in with the backing track. Loved the tone. Casino? Nice mix of chord and single note playing and good dynamics ... and most important played in an emotive (albeit understated) way. Several nice micro pauses before resolving important notes which works well - makes the listener hold the breath anticipating the release of tension with the right note. For an early take it has a huge amount going for it - and I know from what I've heard you do you'll bring even more to it which will make it a wonderful piece to listen to. Really enjoyed listening to this work in progress - this could well be a very successful piece for the TWBB.

Thanks, VB... Sorry you had trouble with SC, I only used it because this is a cover.
I appreciate the comments... Yes it was the Casino, through the Line6 widget. I deliberately did not listen to the SRV version of this tune (even though it is what turned me on to Kenny Burrell in the first place), because I wanted more of a Kenny Burrell vibe. This still needs work (I am no Jazz player ), but we will probably give it a try tonight at the bar.

Re: BB attempts some Jazz...
jazz is not my thing tbh and I know even less about Jazz than I do about the Blues !!!
So, having qualified my comment :-
This sounds a really nice piece of music and I'm sure it will go down well in the bar .....it has a nice late night "smoky" quality to it !!

Hey BB, pretty cool actually, I really dig it. Nice Jazz blues thing going on, and like the tone.

Thanks guys... Appreciate the comments.
We wound up not doing this one on Monday night... We finally have enough tunes that we don't have to play everything we know during a gig. After listening to this, I think I know some of the things I need to work on... I may post an update later.
