Invited my FB-friend Jens to play one of the solo´s in this 12 bar I call "Dirty Touch".
The sound is pretty smokin´ an dirty, but still smoothunless. I bleive that the triplet
upbeat swing makes it "in the pocket" an a bit more rock than blues.
The idea of playin a 12 bar in the pocket ar inspired by the big band blues
,like, for example the blues Buddy Rich Big Band, played back in the early 70;ties.
But this is a small band,,,,, an dirtier.
Me an´my friend does two complete different kind´s of shooting over this blues.
I think he´s talented an a much better player while I try to be interesting here
by using rare scales (,like F Lydian Dominant aka Overtonescale an a A dom arpeggio,)
and rythmpatterns along whit the traditional drafts. Both solo´s
R good & rock, I hope , but he´s the one who really can play.
The first solo after the introducing vamp is mine an the seocond solopart i Jens.
U can hear me leave a commen´t in the musicfile telling who´s playin.
I have written the text an allready used it in another blues called "Lowlife Blues".
If Leif, the singer, feels 4 it - maybe there´s a new version to come.
Me myself is a terrible singer but it´s me singing "Doh, Bah, Wheo, Doh" in
the background of this blues.
I´ll hope that we rock an´that U like this 12 bar rock in the pocket.
Pls, le me kno - leave a comment, bro !!!
This forum has grown, it´s been a while since my last visit I will read some post´s
an listen to some music. Not sure, I´m no traditionally blueshound - more an
(but not in this 12 bar wich is only clichees,) exprimenting reharmonizing curius
jazzcat, if I maybe can come up with one or two clear an helpfull comments.
I think I know what you mean - at first listen it feels like my brain is being overloaded with so much going on, and a lot of it unexpected!
It does kick hard and dirty for sure.
So, no comment / verdict at the moment from me - I think it might need several listens to get it sorted in my head what's happening.
It is an old head with a tired old brain - that's my excuse!
But it's certainly bold and rather different, which is rare.
I shall try to post some more easylistening. :)
Its the rythmguitar that plays the swing, in the pocket, that hits the 2 and 4 in the beat that makes it sound a bit overlaoded maybe
We did kept it very simple, its just an ordindaire 12 bar whit bluessevenths in Bb an´whitout any reharmonisations.
