Name That Les Paul

Post by Golfxzq »

:music2: Hi Everyone.... If you have been following the Les Paul Project, or even if you have not, we would like for YOU to help us name her. Here are a list of names that Aggiefan and I picked out. Please reply with a vote for your favorite. Whichever name gets the most votes after seven day is what we will call her. It is our way of saying "Thanks" to everyone who helped and encouraged us. So... even if you never commented on the LP Project we would still like to have your vote.

OK... Here's our list:

Bernice
Leslie
Paula
Paulie
Sweet P
Black Cat
Phat Cat

Black Cat does jump out of the list in much the same way the beautiful black finish jumps out of the pictures.

Bear in mind I'm biased having had a black cat which was around for a lot of years.

Also bear in mind I can't even think of names for my own guitars - mind is still a blank on naming the "Strat" and the best i can come up with for the Hagstrom is "The Hag" - that's a sweet name isn't it.

I agree with HBL because Sweet P could be explained as, Sweet Pops, Swell Project, Saved - PAUl, Sound Perfect, And so on. So the name gives more intention an meening. I hope that Aggifan can keep her in shape and give it over at his sun. :oldie:

Followed this, and the VB project, with total admiration but without comment as it's all far beyond me.

Mr Fender and Mr Gibson build my guitars and I envy you your talent.

Another one for Black Cat.

Thanks for the help with the voting poll, Gerd. That is great. I didn't know how to do that.

I don't name my guitars either (except for the FrankenStrat  ). They wind up being called "the shiny one", or "the Casino", or "that one right there".
BTW, I like "Bernice" too.

+1 for Bernice... But how about "Black Betty" as an homage to Lead Belly? Now I need to name my Dot. I guess "Dottie" is the obvious one.

guitar_fire:: Well... the votes are in and counted (appropriately on election day here in the USA).

And the winner is......................................................................................

It's a Tie

Black Cat got six votes and Bernice got six votes. Aggiefan likes Black Cat and I like Bernice because it is my mom's name. I guess we'll have to flip a coin tomorrow to see which one wins. Thank for helping us name this guitar. I'll let you know which one wins.

As am I! ...

After the tie even with all those votes I'm glad the coin didn't land on its edge.

Sorry to resurrect a very old thread but I am just in the process of reading every thread ever posted on the new 12bar due to all the things I missed when I stopped coming on for a while.
I would have voted for Black Cat too so in the end I believe the right name was picked.

I'm glad you didn't go with Berniece as there is another very famous guitar with that name already in existence....
Gary Rossington of Lynyrd Skynyrd named his 1959 Gibson Les Paul Berniece after his mother who took 2 jobs so that she could buy it for him.
