El Mano's Custom made Pick ups voor de Cigarbox Guitar!

Post by ElMano »

I developed a special kind of pick up for cigarbox guitars last year. Beside Single coils Rail pups and P90 style for 3 , 4 , 5 and 6 strings i build Humbuckers in an other way than usual. They are also very usable for resonators because they are really flat max 7 mm high.
A good friend build a lot more CBG's than i do and ask me if he could get them for his customers. This week he build a CBG out of an very flat Cigarbox and build in one of mine Cardbuckers. This is what it sounds like Clean an whit distortion.

Hahahaha Yes that would be an act. Lets build a CBG in SG shape !

I am not so fond of distortion But in the CBG its more used. I think it is because they normally use guitar pups who has been lot to hot for 3 strings. This concept is specially developed for Clean CBG sounds. I discover them on internet and read a lot about the specs as far as they will give them. I wind 5 specimen before this was the result. I use Neodymium magnets Super thin and extreme strong. I wind two coils 1 clock wise and 1 reverse on one flat bobine.

Yes, Elmano.

I understand that you're the guy who wants to do everything yourself and do it well. I also did my stuff myself. One day I took it out. I could not take anymore and I began to buy ready-made things instead.

It is well worth you to implement idea into something practical.

It sounds good on the cigar box. Three strings, I myself have no experience of, and probably can not come up with anything relevant to the three strings. It sounds good anyway.
