Help with Bluesbreaker pedal?

Post by kiwiclapton »

Hi guys, just got a bluesbreaker 2 pedal and I'm using it thru a peavey 6505 amp.

What does this mean, its from the manual?

"On clean channels it is advisable to set the gain (or volume)
to a setting of no less than one quarter maximum so as not to
get unrealistic results due to any volume dependent tonal
shaping on the amplifier preamp."

Cheers

I'm not sure, but i'm guessing that the pre-amp section of an amp is designed to cope with a typical range of input levels straight from a guitar. Any tone shaping done by the pre-amp will be designed round those input levels. Go way above those levels and all sorts of tonal issues / discrepancies etc can happen.

Later .... Difficult to be sure what I was saying and difficult to explain. I had a trawl of the internet and found an article that tries to talk about the issue in general. It sort of says the same thing as I thought but in more depth and explains it better. Rather than pass off that knowledge as my own here's the link:-

Hope it helps! :fingerscrossed:
