Minor problem with P-90s on my Casino

Post by Blindboy »

Anybody else using P-90s run into this?
When using the neck pickup (the one I use most often) and bending the high E, the signal drops off noticably. :wall: Volume is well balanced at all other times, so I am reluctant to raise the pole piece. It appears that when I bend the string away from the pole piece, it loses the signal. This doesn't happen with other strings, or the bridge pickup. I wonder if I have a defective pickup? Fortunatly, it isn't a real big deal, just annoying. :motz:
Any suggestions? :icon_whoknows:

Not related to P90s exactly, but I have heard people having the problem when polepieces don't line up with strings. Never really experienced it myself.

Wouldn't bringing up the pole piece apart from generating a little higher signal, narrow the magnetic field for that string also ?

Mhh don't think so, but the pull from the field could ruin your sustain.

I notice this on my Epi Les Paul. I also notice that when it does go flat after sitting it will not hold a tune. Thus time to change the strings.
