Bob Dylan Live in 2010

Post by tombstone »

I know that, at first blush, it might not seem that Dylan is the right sort of artist to discuss on a blues guitar forum. That said, you should all go see him if you get the chance. I just got home from the show he played in St. Louis Missouri and let me tell you that was some thunderous rock and roll.

Bob is really bringing his all for these shows, whereas before, with some exceptions, he had been pretty much phoning it in for the past couple of years. The level of audience interaction is just amazing (for Bobby that is). For those who have reservations about his voice, I for one would assure you that this is his best singing in recent years by far. Yes he has some gravel in his voice, but would you really want to see Bob Dylan without that?

Highlights for the blues/blues rock fan tonight:

Leopard-Skin Pillbox Hat
The Levee's Gonna Break
Honest With Me
Cold Irons Bound
Highway 61 Revisited
Thunder On The Mountain
and Jolene
(Full Set List: http://boblinks.com/102110s.html)

Charlie Sexton, whom you may know from the rock quartet Arc Angels featuring Doyle Bramhall II and Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton, blasts some astounding guitar, managing to assert himself musically and still be a part of the cohesive unit behind Bob.

The remaining scheduled dates for 2010 are available at http://boblinks.com/ at the bottom of the page. Check it out.
