Yes, great! Just reading the comments, 11 years ago, including Jim
(Around 5 min there's a great lick!)

Iceman, yeah his style (no pick, but capo) and telecaster tone was really unique.
Love this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koJT6JL_yc0

I know about Jim’s comment. In a way this is a repost from me. Thing is I love this rendition. The guitar sounds so awesome.
It got me to recreate the sound of my first Epi Dot using my samic e335 and Cybie. Loosing my job sparked my musical activity and creativity. Guess I needed a good long rest.......

Re: Currently listening to...
Able to grab a window of time to listen to those recent links. Very enjoyable indeed!
Wish i could find some time to listen to music ... and to go on music forums.
Less than 60 working days till retirement though. So near but yet so far.
Of the music I have heard recently I'm ashamed to say too little has been blues.
But there has been this one.
Bonamassa / Hart Live in Amsterdam with this:-

Difficult not to get caught up in the feeling.

Yeah, and it's not just the feeling. He goes out of his way to imitate a lot of things and really knows how to make a show.12bar wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 9:26 pmIceman, yeah his style (no pick, but capo) and telecaster tone was really unique.

That thing he does on the 5:20 mark with the sax player, for example. Or, imitating trying to start his truck with the guitar on Snowed in (atleast I think that's the one), or a conversation with his wife. He's wild.

Very popular, everyone knows, but I can't figure out...

Found it... this is what annoys me with these bands, you really can't ever know if they have an ounce of creativity in them unless you investigate, and 9/10 cases you'll find some obscure record which they used and never talked about. I mean, it's an ok song but give credit where's its due, this is a full vocal melody!

BTW - you know Mike Oldfield didn't sing on on his records, he always hired a singer. Well, not always, back in 1968/69 he had a band with his sister Sally. They recorded the LP "Children of the sun" containing this one with young Mike singing (and playing a nice guitar):

Nice reinvention by Ry Cooder - quite far removed from Joel or Presley, and the better for it too. Well - I think so.12bar wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2020 3:28 pm I know this as a children' song - still can't figure it out...

One of the greatest intro lines in the blues, in my humble opinion.
I'm gonna get up in the morning, do like Buddy Brown
I'm gonna eat my breakfast, then I'm gonna lay back down
Though I don't know if it's Lightning's version that's the original, Sleepy John Estes mentions Buddy Brown (among alot of other characters) in his songs.
