Band update:

Post by ratfinkdan »

Thought I'd post a little update on the Blues band that I joined last spring, ( thread titled Here we go again, new Band ).In the last thread we had played a couple of blues jams and were coming together nicely, then the drummer disappeared almost like in spinal tap! We tried to call a couple of times sent a couple of emails nothing, although he left his drum set, it was kind of a beater set that he left in our practice place and would just take his hardware with him, so we got a drum set out of it, Cool! So we found a new drummer through craigslist, more in our age group into the blues and an excellent drummer, brings a lot of experience and drive! Then the other guitar player stepped out, is getting ready to move out of the country. The drummer brought a guitarist friend who he had been in a band with over to try out, very good player more of a rocker but liked the blues and hes a good singer as well, score! Then I met a harmonica player at a friends blues band gig, invited him over, it just all fell together the harp just added so much to the band!

So things are going really well, have been getting together once a week for a couple of hours to practice, we almost have 2 sets of music down and its really sounding good. We are playing a few songs at a benefit concert in a couple of weeks and are hoping to be able to book a few gigs after the first of the year. Just starting to put some sort of a promo package together, been recording some of our practices , and it really helps to listen back to how it really sounds. Would like to post a clip but don't have any jams recorded yet and don't want to worry about copyrights by posting a cover song although we will probably record something we can post soon. So the story continues, but it really has been a lot of fun finding some guys who all have the same musical interest to get together with to learn new tunes and to work on our blues playing! Dan

Glad all that change around gave you something good and didn't mean the band disintegrated.

Bit strange that "spinal tap" drummer story though!

Best of luck with the benefit concert. :fingerscrossed:

That's a happy end, although the disappearing drummer is too strange.
