Heard a rumor the other day that EC is recording a Cale tribute album in LA.

:tears: I just heard the sad news - RIP, JJ, you'll be missed.

Please take a look at this:

music.yahoo.com/blogs/stop-the-presses/jj-cale-why-neil-young-called-him-best-183038172.html

That's a great Tribute page with many nice vid and great info.If you scroll down, you'll find embedded the legendary session w/ Leon Russel, Christine Lakeland and others:

I also have a request and would like to ask if anyone knows where to get the book "J.J. Cale Guitar Styles (and how to play them)"? It seems to be out of print, I only found it on amazon.com for ridiculous USD 399... I'd really like to work through the book, maybe someone here knows how to get it for a reasonable price... any recommendation be much appreciated!

Thank you very much!

I think you would be expecting too much from the Styles book. He does give comments on the recording the tune (available at jjcale.org), but the rest is just standard notation, with no reference to solos and almost no mention of chord shapes played.

But if you PM your email address, I can maybe dig up a couple of pages for you. Fair sharing, I feel,

Can't help on the JJ styles book I'm afraid ..

apart from his book forward notes here
http://jjcale.org/jjbooks.htm

One went on e-bay in Australia recently and sold for peanuts .. so you just have to wait yr moment ..and be in the right country I guess.

However I have found this website handy on all things JJ Cale
and a whole collection of Tab ideas
http://pickingjjcale.blogspot.co.uk/

Find anything better ..do share pls !

Hey Guys,

thank you very much for the replies, it's much appreciated!

Weelie, this is a very gentle offer, I'd indeed love to take a look at some pages of the book (and I do actually prefer sightreading to TAB because I try to learn it a little bit better - so why not start here ;) ). Strummer07, of course I'll share everything else I find on the topic with all of you!

Greetings,

Tony
