Guitar Slim passed away last week. I saw him at a few years ago at Legends here in Chicago and he was a great one with an interesting story. Look him up if you get a chance.

Many people did not realize Magic Slim lived the last almost 20 years of his life here in Nebraska, in Lincoln. I really regret to say I never got to see him perform. His "home" bar, where he performed a lot in Lincoln was one named the Zoo Bar. The owner of the Zoo Bar is a huge supporter of the Blues and really "adopted" Magic. I almost have an excuse for not seeing him in that Lincoln is over an hour drive for me.

But Magic Slim also performed on occasion at a venue here in Omaha called the 21st Saloon and for not seeing him there I have no excuse.

I just can't learn. SRV performed here in Omaha and my wife knew what a huge fan I was. She offered me tickets for a late birthday present. I had something going on so said "We'll catch him next time". He went from here to a concert in Iowa. He went from there to the concert in Wisconsin, his last.

I had just recently picked up his latest cd, never heard of him before , good stuff, some great playing and singing. Sad to hear of his passing! From what I understood he was given the name Magic Slim from Magic Sam! RIP Magic Slim!! Dan
