Again, the whole idea is in the title of this topic. Tell us what is (or are) your fav slowblues, maybe even the best.
To be honest this topic is running on Bluesforum.nl and I love it, so a quick nick and here we go.


In my case ( ) I'm primary into slowblues so I have a whole bunch of those seemingly "best" slowblues.

Today this old favorite of mine came out of one of my slowblues collections I have and had playing on my mp3 whilst walking the dog.

Here's one I only discovered recently - Jeff Healey doing "How Blue Can You Get."
Great tone, tasteful licks and Jeff's unique technique make this very special to me.

Don't know the answer for that with Tupelo, but very glad you've posted that one. My favourite John Lee Hooker piece, and because it's John Lee Hooker then it has to be my favourite blues piece. Best example I can think of which proves less is more.

Another contender for me in slow blues is Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac - Jumping at Shadows:-

and from the same line up "Need Your Love So Bad", but the non strings version with no added prodution (only on the revised Pious Bird of Good Omen CD) - just the basic studio take which allows Peter Green's guitar and vocal to be heard at their best.

This wont be to everyones taste, but I like it.

I still dig SRV's "Tin Pan Alley", the studio version. Clapton's "Early In The Morning" is another favorite (and one of the few I can sing) I used to have a cassette tape and tab book that had seven different live versions of "Red House". A great song, but talk about slow blues overload .

Love the Alvin Lee track NxsN ........I used to love 10 years after whan I was a lad !!

Slow blues ...how slow does it have to be to be considered slow ??

Anyway this is off the Buddy Guy "Skin Deep" cd ......and I could just as easily list Skin deep as its a great blues song

but this one "Feels Like Rain" ( its way better on the cd sound quality wise ) but this is a really sweet little duet...............and I rate Susan Tedeschi very highly as a lady blues singer.great smokey voice ..

Hell ya. I like all his versions. Two favorites are the studio one they have on the "Texas Flood" extra tracks and the Montreaux with Johnny Copeland.

TO be honest, I still am not used to reading this board yet, and I'm having a little trouble separating the text replies from the names and other info (which was easy in the old forum -- but I'll get used to it in a while). so I'm probably repeating other people, but my all time favorite slow Blues ls :

DOUBLE TROUBLE.... especially as played by EC, and most especially as EC played it with Steve Winwood, and MOST, MOST, MOST especially (as I've heard the 3 versions from the 3 nights in Feb 2008) the one he did (7 minutes long) on the 3rd (last) night of the first reunion with SW. It, as I've said many times, was SO perfect, so GODlike, it brought me to tears... literally.

(And in general, slow Blues are my favorite too! )

There are a lot, Stormy Monday as played by T-Bone and the Allmans, How Blue Can You Get by B King, Drownin' On Dry Land by Roy Buchanan, Villanova Junction Blues by Jimi Hendrix.... the list goes on.
