Freddie King Inducted to Hall of Fame

Post by Strummer07 »

Must confess I would have thought he'd been there for ages ....But apparently not

Tonight in Cleveland , Ohio .. Freddie King ( who passed away in 1976 aged just 42 !!! ) will be inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of fame by none other than ZZ Top ( Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill .. big fans of Freddie's work apparently ... good on them)

Well deserved and Long overdue !!

What is you favourite Freddie King Track or moment ??

So many great tracks ..........The easy "Go to" Track would have to be Hideaway or Have you ever loved a Woman ...........

But I'll list Big Legged Woman as one of my favorite Freddie songs

and a toast to his belated induction !!

Why I why did it take so long? If someone deserves it, it's Freddie!

Thanks for reminding us of the amazing contents of the site 12 bar ........those are great write ups on the 3 x Kings ( or is it 4 !)

Often forget to search the whole 12 bar website, The Forum seems to take centre stage much of the time.

There's a wealth of good stuff around us here .

Do any of our US chums Catch the broadcast (The 27th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony takes place Saturday night in Cleveland. HBO will carry the telecast on May 5.) Billy Gibbons & Dusty Hare perform for Freddie K .. along with a whole host of other acts/ Inducttees
Red Hot Chilly Peppers
Guns N' Roses
Donovan ( Donovan -Good artist , or was ... But Not sure abour Rock and Roll ??? ) .. but he;s still alive .which helps !!
singer-songwriter Laura Nyro (who died in 1997)
The Small Faces, the influential English band that morphed into The Faces, launching a then-unknown young singer named Rod Stewart to super-stardom.
Etc

Anyone spots a youtube clip - it'd be great to share it here.

Just to add some contoversy to the event ( Well surprise surprise !! Some things never change !!) .. Axl Rose is refusing to be honoured and refusing to appear !!

It really is so difficult to believe HOW ridiculously overdue - what have they been thinking! :eye_rub:

Here's a couple of vids from The Old Grey Whistle Test. The Texas Cannonball up close and personal. The second one just a year before he died from stomach ulcers I believe.

Just got finished listening to "Freddy King Gives You a Bonanza of Instrumentals" He is one of my favorites and often overlooked. I love his earlier instrumental dance stuff as well as his 70's stuff like "Burglar".

HOF Induction Night
I believe that after the Formal Induction by Dusty and Billy they were joined on stage by Derek Trucks and Joe Bonamassa and all performed "Hideaway" and "Going Down"
to truly induct Freddie .....

This is a rather poor quality bootleg you tube clip .......I hope we can find the whole thing in A1 quality .will be worth a good listen

and here's "Hideway" and an interview with Derek Trucks

Here's the formal Induction piece with the citation going to Freddie's sister I think it is ...

Big Freddie is inducted !!
