Hi VB,
that neck is beautiful. I love the neck on my 52RI tele, but this takes the biscuit!!
I'd be interested in the total cost of the guitar when finished, as I harbour thoughts of such a project.
Keep up the good work! (ex-teacher talking).

Re: Strat Project Diary
Hi VB, Check out pictures of the ADAM BLACK LIBRA UK in scar red. I have one. It has a canadian ash body and there has been no attempt to get rid of the 'heavy graining'. Yet it looks stunning. I don't know what finish they've used, but, if it appeals, I'm sure you could get in touch. They are based...

Re: PC recording
Just an update. A lot has happened since I posted. I had a 'warning' mini-stroke, telling me to stop teaching and retire!! I'm fine now and have found the extra time very useful for 'learning' to use Audacity. It really is good and I'm working on a backing track I've made on my looper, then recordin...

Re: Liverpool
Hi Elborgo, The Albert Dock complex is worth a wander around. Visit the 'Beatles' museum and the Tate Gallery(if you are into Art). Although I'm an Atheist, I can highly recommend the catholic cathedral (known as 'the Mersey Funnel'). A MUST is a visit to John Lennon's & Paul McCartneys childhoo...

IMHO King King are not to be missed, especially if you like John Mayall and early EC, Fleetwood Mac when they were a real band!!

Re: ฺBest string for blues?
After trying many over the years, I've stuck with Ernie Ball. I found the best for Blues playing to be 'Slinky Top Heavy Bottom'. BUT BE CAREFUL anyone trying them: your nut needs the bass slots cutting wider, if your guitar has a standard nut designed for 8-10's. I don't really think the brand come...

Re: BOSS e-band
Hi Strummer, As I watched my question slip down the list, I thought:Nobody is in a position to answer!. Then, an Englishman not only comes up with the goods, but really goes out of his way to be helpful (sod our overpaid footballers!!!). Many, many thanks mate, you have practically made up my mind t...

BOSS e-band
Has anyone used or got an e-bandJS8 ? If so , I'd be grateful to hear how useful it is ? For instance, can recordings be transferred onto computer via a USB ?
Thanks,
Frank
Thanks,

Re: Durango Guitar Works
Have a look at the Adam Black Libra UK. Made in Braintree, Essex, with high output humbuckers. I bought one recently and am amazed at the quality for only £399. It has an ash body and rock maple neck. I have a thing about ash sounding better than alder, hence my 52RI tele. Don't Vigier have very thi...

Re: Buying first electric, need help
Nowadays it is much harder to buy an inferior electric. most are good value for money. If I was starting again I'd go for a Squier telecaster or a Yamaha Pacifica at the cheap end. If you know what you are doing, buy a better model 'used'. There are so many choices nowadays, it will need lots of try...

Re: 50s or 60s neck?
I had a Les Paul Standard with the 60's neck and found it very comfortable. However, I found the finish on the back of the neck very 'sticky' making fast chord changes very difficult. The salesman assured me that this would improve, but after four years, I still found the neck 'difficult'. I was als...

Re: Fret size.
Thanks for the replies Bluesmen! I was expecting someone to tell me that you get more 'feel' with higher frets. I can see the point of having them on a guitar set up for slide. At least I can put that question to the back of my mind now!!

Fret size.
The more I look closely at pro guitar players, the more I wonder about the advantages and/or disadvantages of 'Jumbo' frets as against the pretty standard 'medium jumbo' found on many standard (non-customised) electrics. Is there an advantage for Blues players like no choking out on bends? I know so...

The Allman Brothers version of 'Stormy Monday' has a lovely, jazzy arpeggio at the end of the intro. I love to use it.!!
