RIP Gregg Allman
We lost another great this weekend. The Allman Brothers were one of my favorite bands, and Gregg had one of the greatest voices in rock and roll.

Jam with a good friend
An old friend of mine, and one of the best blues guitarists that I know sat in whith the three piece version of the Trainwreck Blues Band Saturday night. One of the patrons took this cellphone video of a song. If this post works, I will elaborate. https://www.facebook.com/eric.szeman/videos/14589749...

Re: More Gills in a Pink Fish
That might work. Can give it a try.12bar wrote:Maybe - what if you do the last step and record "live" (phone, camera etc.)?
If VB still has the separate tracks - why not?

Re: More Gills in a Pink Fish
I like these quite a bit, VB. The Gilly one would be a fun collab if I were equipped to do a collab. Don't fret about your voice. It's the one you have and it is never as bad as it seems when you listen back to it (believe me, I know about that!), and it will improve, the more you use it. I'm enjoyi...

Re: Tuning for 8-String Lap Steel Blues
Wow, that's a question that is far beyond my poor expertise. The only slide I play is bottleneck style on a six string, and I favor open G for bluesy stuff, and open D for more melodic things.

Howdy, Ray. Things are a little slow here, right now. Welcome from the mountains of northern New Mexico.

Saturday night rig
I've been having some fun going to the Saturday night acoustic open mic that my buddy hosts at the local bar. After the dinner crowd thins out, we set up in a big circle in front of the fireplace and swap songs. There is usually a guy playing upright bass, a young woman playing a cajon, and several ...

RIP Jim Marshall
I don't favor the Marshall amps myself, but they sure did make the sound of rock and roll. A great many of my favorite players used them. I suspect that Jim Marshall was as big an influence as Leo Fender in many ways.

Re: Who's there?
I'm still drifting through a couple of times a week. My situation is kind of wierd right now. I have been battling a bad bout of pneumonia since Feb and have been living down in the Village (lower elevation,1920 meters rather than 2530 at my house) where my internet connection is sketchy. In some wa...

RIP Lonnie Brooks
Iconic bluesman Lonnie Brooks has passed away at the age of 83. He was one of my favorite still living. As time goes by, we lose more and more of the first and second generation electric Blues players...

Re: Hi from newest site Newby
:welcome: Mike, from the mountains on New Mexico. Even though I'm not very good, I do my best and I'm trying to come up with "me" licks based on licks of others. That's the hard part of playing the blues. Face it, we have a fairly small vocabulary, and it's hard to "not" sound li...

Not blues, but nostalgic...
One of my Dads college buddys wanted to learn guitar... He, and my father, and a man named Baxter Taylor went on to form the Wayfairers Trio. Later, my Dads friend, Mason, worked as head writer for the Smothers Brothers TV show. Mason had written a song, and he asked my father, who was a gifted luth...

Re: One of mine and a folk Trad PD
Those are both very nice pieces of music, VB. I like what you're doing in DADGAD, and it is great to hear you playing and singing at the same time (quite a challenge for me). An interesting discussion on theory, etc... I didn't chime in, because I am so weak on theory. I have absorbed some through o...

I love it, but it can't replace the FrankenStrat. If I could have only one electric guitar, that would be it. Fortunately, I can have more than one.12bar wrote:You can't deny that the Casino is the guitar you like most...

This is how it's supposed to sound.
OK, this one came together right. Our original instrumental, Okie Stomp. I stepped on my tremelo pedal, and was listening to my tone, trying to decide what song to play, when our drummer started the Okie Stomp tune. https://youtu.be/k8fceVcTM_s Each time we play a song, it comes out a bit different,...

Thanks, Gerd.
Maybe so. It wasn't intentional.
