I don't really know the original, but I've just been listening to your version and a live version of theirs on YouTube.
You have really captured the essence of the original it seems to me, and your version stands up to the comparison. Very nicely done.

Re: A strange night...(doublebooked at the bar)
I really admire your playing Blindboy and I'm not surprised Edric did too - over and above that I'm in awe of anyone who can stand up in front of a crowd and play - glad you had fun after such a rocky start to the evening.

Re: Welcome
Several years ago I encountered CTS in all its glory. Short story is nerve entrapment, surgery, irreversible nerve damage, etc. Can't bend my wrist, no feeling in fingers, fingers actually shrinking or kind of flattening out at the ends. So slide now is my way of adapting or "spitting in the w...

Re: Welcome
Viking Blues, hello to Scotland from Colorado! Gear that gets my vote is pretty much anything that can make a noise. If it's custom built or strung together with parts you took off the old lawn mower then it's even better (I'm a life-long hot rodder and it carries over to the rest of my life-I can'...

Re: Welcome
That's a mouth-watering sounding collection you've got there Jake. And a recording studio too - sounds like heaven to me.
Like HBL said, I'm sure a lot of us would be keen to see / hear some of these.
[And look HBL - another Cyber Twin!]

Re: The Dead Bird (a mournful blues)
Sweet and good stuff coming from your side. I really like this one. Despite your age you keep growing ! (grin) Thank you HBL. One day I hope to have a vocal I'm Ok with and a good backing track that I've made myself - well we can all have a dream! VB ...this is a lovely track and you and San...

Re: Clapton Winwood 2010 tour
Good grief! You go to more concerts in 5 weeks than I go to in 5 years Strummer. :D I'm not surprised to hear about the hard work and showmanship of Joe Bonamassa, although I agree with you about the number of notes. If I keep going the way I am I'll be looking for a guitarist who plays a one note s...

Re: The Dead Bird (a mournful blues)
I think there's maybe a Chris Rea (the recent blues man reborn, Chris Rea that is) influence on my take on this BT - 12bar might be able to comment on this as I know he likes his stuff. :icon_whoknows: There is - this floating, singing tone has a lot of Rea. And the voice - perfect... Remind...

Before I go on replying to everyone, I redid the thing, taking all your comments seriously.... Re: On a wire... mind your ears <G>
Sorry to hear the wheels are falling off here and there HBL. :alright: But .. don't be too hard on your vocals. To me they sound as if they fit the musical mood pretty well, and I can hearthe vocal gradually getting more sure through the song. It's much more difficult to be objective about your own ...

Excellent stuff. Well done VB (& Sandra). I was going to say, " watch out Mr. Rea", but Weelie beat me to it. I, for one, love the tone!!!! Thanks Bluesmole - now if I could just develop a voice like Chris Rea! I found the waking up with the song formed in my head exhili...

Re: Clapton Winwood 2010 tour
Interesting Strummer that both you and the reviewer highlighted the "problem" with the audience communication, though you put it much more sympathetically. I've got a great deal of sympathy for the performer(s) regarding this. It's such a different skill to communicate in a one sided conve...

Re: The guitar question I hate asking
Strummer mentioned the Tanglewood TW70 in an earlier post. I've not tried that one but I do have a TW45 which stood out from the competition in its range when I was getting an electro-acoustic - one of those episodes of trying several guitars and its a no-brainer which was best. However the TW45's m...
