Five Long (fabulous) Years...
Saturday, May first Miriam and I celebrated five years together. (the first five of many to come) 123 - Copy.JPG We had our yearly anniversary/Mayday party and it was great! The weather was kind to us, it only snowed a tiny bit in the morning (snowed the day before, and on Sunday we got up to almost...

Re: A new blonde in my life
I am familiar with Wilkinson hardware. I have used some of thier bridges on project guitars years ago. It was high quality for reasonable prices even back then. That is a good endorsement for the guitars. Looking forward to hearing more.

Whooo!!!
Very nice! When a player (you or others) gets melodic like that, I can only look on in awe and envy.

Re: A new blonde in my life
Happy Birthday VB. And congrats on the new geetar. Looks and sounds very nice! I am not a 'Tele guy, but I used to have a G&L Asat Classic that was really a player. I just didn't like the "'Tele Tone". I wound up selling it the first time I "quit playing". (If I had tho...

Speaking of faces, I kind of like the expression on the bass player's face.
Can we get a "snarl" smiley?

That was the most fun I've had listening to anything in a long time- thanks Blindboy! Any tips for trying to learn it (other than "have big hands")? Thank you... I am flattered by your interest. It's an alternating bass thing, C to F, then E to Am, then Am, D, G#, G. Then it re...

Re: Help! Bad GAS attack!
I guess I will have to come down off of my mountain and demo a couple of amps. (I hate going into town) I simply can't buy one without playing through it myself. :icon_whoknows: The Champ is looking pretty good tho... I think I will borrow my brother's Blues Jr. Whatever I get needs to be ...

Re: Comfort zone/default jam
VB... some cool licks in there. I am a big fan of 7#9 chords too. (I think so anyway. I don't actually know the names of all of the chord shapes I play. :shy: ) I wonder how many players default to the key of E? My brother goes to C and does random ragtime noodles. "Guitar Shop Noodle"... ...

Comfort zone/default jam
When you first pick up a guitar, or when someone hands you a guitar and says "check this out", most of us have a "default" set of licks or a "comfort zone" space that we go to automatically to see how the guitar plays and how we are playing at that that moment. Mine is ...

Open mic blues update...
Well, we still don't have a drummer or much of a set list, but we now have a good bass player. Last Monday was pretty fun. Mike, the bass player picks up everything we throw at him and runs with it. A good bass player is a treasure! My wife came down and got a few pics. She tried to get s...

Help! Bad GAS attack!
Thinking about a new teeny amp for small coffeehouse style gigs (winebar gigs  ) Heard mention of Bugera 5W amps here, found one on E-bay that I could pick up locally for about $75. Also saw fender champ 600 for as low as $55. Anyone on here have experience with either one of these babies...

Re: Am I Missing Something with Head Phones?
I only use the headphones when using my GuitarPort. (I can't seem to figure out how to get the sound come out of the speakers, except for playback. :wall: ) I don't mind them, and it is convenient for playing when my wife is asleep, but I much prefer the sound of my amps. None of my amps have a head...

Ok, here's mine. I am not too happy with it, but I don't have much time to fuss with it.
I should have more time for messing with the recording stuff after Mayday.

Re: My Gibson ES-339
Some evenings all the creatures come out of the woods and sit in the grass outside my window listening to me practice. They think it's a summer concert series. I make them bring their own popcorn. I enjoy having an audience but these guys are tough. Nothing seems to please the possums. Some of the ...

Re: Caterpiggle Crawl...
Thanks for all the compliments, fellers :shy: I used to do a bunch of fingerstyle acoustic and bottleneck stuff about ten years ago, and let the electric stuff slide. Now that I am playing more electric, I tend to let the acoustic stuff slide. Kind of hard (for me, anyway) to stay on top of both sty...
