A Christmas Slumber

Merry Christmas everybody! This is my Christmas present to everybody here! I just used my iPad once again to create the Backing track, which is a simple romp in Dm. I started with an instrument I had not done much with before, the piano. I usually started my songs from the guitar grooves built in, b...

Re: 12bar hall of fame - discussion

Thanks HBL. :) My apologies, I did not quite read through all the way. I should have slowed down, but I was a tad bit excited to read it thoroughly. Oh well. :)

:HoF: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1347

Would this be a possible song I could have nominated for the HoF? Because I created the backing track, it should be free of copyright issues, and it is my own playing.

Re: Spicy Blues Free Backing Track Link

If you didn't mind VB, I gave the BT a stab, hopefully I did it justice. I did not watch the demo of the person playing on it beforehand, purposefully, so that I would not get any preconceived notions of anything to imitate. The song's name for the BT came from the fact I had two Vinegar Chili's at ...

Re: On the Wrong Side (50's Rock and Roll BT, Pete Anderson)

Thanks Gerd!

I guess my focus improves whenever I am in a mood or state like I was. I just let it rip, without thinking too much, and this was the result. The guitar is such a good release for negative emotions without having to resorting to using a punching bag or a pillow!

Re: Waiting for Developments - Improv PLUS Collab

You are very welcome, VB!I enjoy it! It is a wonder that now through the internet, three musicians from three different countries can collaborate and produce a piece like this! What a wonder the internet is!

Re: Waiting for Developments - Improv PLUS Collab

Thanks! Personally, I think that the different tones make it sound so cool! We might be playing over the same BT, same scales (Lydian/Dorian) but our choices of notes, the inflections, the attack of the pick, etc, makes them sound similar, but yet so drastically different, so I can easily tell for t...

On the Wrong Side (50's Rock and Roll BT, Pete Anderson)

For some reason, when I got up this morning, my mind felt rather jumbled and confused, like I had woken up on the wrong side of the bed. Needless to say, I tried to figure out something to do to try and re-organize it. Then it hit me, I started playing some guitar to backing tracks until I found thi...

Re: Waiting for Developments - Improv PLUS Collab

Hi VB! You are right indeed, a very cool and moody track! Different then I have played before! I had fun playing around with the Dorian and Lydian modes, the former I use a lot, the latter, I use, but I haven't really used the G# much when playing in that mode... Anyways, I recorded my playing over ...

Freezin' Country!

Hi all! I know you were clamoring for my last song to be longer, so I wrote another one with a similar feel on the iPad, made it a bit longer (Basically, I had four 8 bar sections, and I changed to 4 16 bar sections instead. Love the flexibility of the iPad!), and played some lead. I also moved the ...

Study Break, a short little piece

I wrote this short little ditty on Garageband on my iPad. I used the iPad's mic, being lazy, having studied for my accounting/buisness math course for about 6 hours today, so my apologizes for the muddiness, but at least the feeling is there! In short, this is me venting my frustration at the compli...

Re: Thanksgiving 2011

Many thanks Strummer07! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you friendly folk on 12bar. You guys have helped me more than you can imagine in my playing over the past year, since I joined, and I can only imagine how, with your help, I will continue to improve. So I will take this time and thank everybody on...

Re: Unskilled BT in G

Thanks VB! To be utterly honest, listening a day later after the actual recording, I am kind of shell shocked. I remembered what I was playing, but for some honest, I was entranced by the playing and for a while kind of forgot what I had done, because some of those licks were really effective and me...

Re: Unskilled BT in G

Hi VB! A very nice BT if I may so myself that you cobbled together! Your rhythm seemed pretty spot on and nice to me, so I decided to play a bit of lead. Lately, I've been more cautious in how I play lead, trying not to rush things, just play around with emotions a bit, so I start off a lot more mel...

Re: Taskstream Blues

That's quite alright! This was more of a fooling around backing track then anything serious anyway. Sometimes, you just need a backing track to vent your feelings on.

Re: Taskstream Blues

I"m thinking it is the recording setup. Once I get my mic back working I will be using that. The problem is, I somehow, or something stepped on the USB end of the mic cable and well, I don't think it will work properly. I think that it could be the iPhone's recording, while it captures sound, t...

Taskstream Blues

Hi all! I just brought Torrance out a bit this morning, and I found this hard rock Blues in A backing track on Youtube, and I started playing to it. I guess I've been venting my frustrations at the graders on this site that my college uses called Taskstream. I don't have any tasks waiting to be grad...

Stretching out of my comfort zone...

With no real influences on my playing that had this sort of musical style, I felt like stepping off a cliff when I played this. This seems a lot more hard rock than anything I've ever done really, yet this was my chance to show off the aggressive side of my playing and off Torrance. Playing this bac...

Arizona Sunrise

Hi all! I played Torrance again, after my dad and I put a new A string on her, and figured out how to undo her locking tuners and stuff like that, I retuned her myself last night. I used a brilliant device called "Guitar Tool" to undo the locking nuts at the top of the neck, and loosened t...
