Re: Teach Me A Lesson

Bluesinbflat... Though Love??? Thanks for the push, I really needed it. Also, thanks for the reminder to listen to more blues. I have heard this before but have not really gotten into it in a big way. I have been recently researching the roots of my home town. I grew up in a very small town in Miss...

Re: Teach Me A Lesson

What I would like to do is be able to pick up my guitar, play along with a few friends, improvise a little and have fun. So the question is: Then what's holding you back? I read your reply and I believe you already know how to get to where you want but in your own words don't want to do the work. I...

Re: What does it take to be a great blues singer?

You're asking people on a site whose main/primary interest is guitar? If you're truly serious and want a solid concrete no bullshit answer then you'll have to personally direct your question to Gregg Allman or to whoever blues performer you know that is still around who's 'great' blues singing you a...

Yes, job well done! The different approaches were exciting to listen to.

Re: Relaxing Weekend?

My weekend was to start with Larry Graham funk concert, but, well it was canceled due to the ash clouds. Larry Graham!? I haven't heard that name in a long time; He's from my neck of the woods - Oakland, CA. In the mid 1970s I used to listen to Graham Central Station all the time. Ah, memories...Wh...

Nah, don't think so :icon_whoknows: Gotta go and visit my parents... my mother joined the half blind community last week  it's a 5 hour drive back and forth. Since I'm the one doing the driving most of the time, I guess my hands won't be in for some quality playing afterwards :wall: No problem...

Jam in G

It's a slow one in G....It's just another short jam I'm uploading to keep members busy playing blues. I start off and thereafter two guitarist can take one chorus each or one guitarist stretches out and take both. Enjoy!

Re: Not singing on the V?

please comment and or tell me the right way to place the words against the 12 bar format and where one should fit fills / solo's etc ..Tks Strummer07, I'm not the type who'll break things down into long paragraphs - No disrespect to those that are more thorough in their explanations. Ok, not every ...

Complete the following: "I just played through the 12 bar blues progression and now I'm going to do it again. I'm going to play a second ______________" Chorus? Verse? Something else? But what's the proper way to refer to the main 12 bar chord progression? I used to call it a verse, then ...

Gamblin' On My Mind

Originally this was going to be a cover song collab on Robert Johnson's Ramblin' On My Mind; Because of possible copyright violation I changed the title and lyrics after consulting with Gerd. Instead of the usual everyone adding their solo to one track, this collab will be different in that it's a v...

Re: Black Cat Blues

That was very good - From composing the lyrics, singing and guitar playing. I like how you didn't sing on the V and let the guitar take over, very cool idea.

Btw, Will that backing track be made available for download?

Re: A Very Minor Affair - first post to the Blues Room

my next goal should be to get good enough to participate in a collaboration. But that seems a long way off. JimRR, I just listened and you're doing quite well for the short amount of time you've spent learning blues (notice I didn't say ' the blues ' because that phrase is used incorrectly the majo...
