Re: My new japanese Girl friend!

I can play fingerstyle acoustic with no bends, and altered and open tunings make for less strain on left hand finger joints. The more open string notes the less work for the fingers. I'm very happy with all that - given what happened to my Dad having to give up playing piano due to arthritis I wasn'...

Re: My new japanese Girl friend!

I think it's only when I hear / see someone with a Japanese Tokai Les Paul that I'm reminded.

The way my finger joints are these days  i couldn't do all those bends needed for electric blues - therefore i couldn't play one fully if i had it - so that eases the pang of regret pretty well.

Yes indeed - easy to know the basics, and so very, very tricky to play well.
Thanks for posting the link.

Re: My new japanese Girl friend!

WOW!!! Looks great ...... Sounds great ...... Played great !!!!!!!! A Japanese built Tokai is an excellent buy. Hope you have a long lasting relationship for years and years. That's an impressive signal chain .... I'd need a notebook to keep a track of all the settings. But I bet I'd make it...

Re: Basic 12 Bar Song List

Hi Matt, and :welcome: Don't know if this link is any good. It says it's a mixture of traditional type songs commonly performed in the blues idiom, and some are public domain. A fairly long list. Need to download the PDF file to get the full song. https://www.traditionalmusic.co.uk/blues-guitar-chor...

Re: World wide colab!

Funny that - I have an acoustic version of this from six and a bit years ago, and I've no idea how I played it / arranged it! I suspect it was based on a Michael "Hawkeye" Herman lesson. That said, six years + have made the voice even worse. :music1: St James Infirmary Bl...

Re: Good Moaning!

:welcome: to the forum Miguel. :D I hope you have fun in your journey of learning the blues. A wonderful genre of music where the basic rules are pretty simple but the art in turning the playing into something good is a lifetime work - much of it subtleties in playing that can't be shown in books or...

Aye - can be slow, and i share in the blame for that. My once regular visits here have really tailed off in retirement. I thought I'd have more spare time for things like visiting this forum. Retired people warned me that you end up with less time when you've retired and they were right! I'm finding...

Sounds to me like you're getting on real fine!

You're better off exploring the music of experienced bluesman and decent on-line teachers than hear anything I might say!
I think you'd be able to run rings round me given what i hear you playing.

The older I get the more I seem to appreciate stripped down versions of songs as well as the full blown originals. This is no exception! Nice! But slide on pinky doesn't work for me. :icon_whoknows: It was the same for me. Until I got a decent quality made to measure glass slide from Diamond Bottlenecks. Huge difference. I like the better mix you can do of fingered single notes and chords plus the slide when the pinkie...
