Re: Swampy Slim

Hi, Pena, I dig it!

You don't live far off (I live in Kamppi), maybe we should have tiny jam session some time? I can play rhythm, can ask a friend to play bass/sing/record, you can solo. Would need to settle some track listing probably before hand though.

Re: My first ever live guitar solo

Thanks, guys! I am in the good position that I feel I am the worst of the lot (most to learn from the others, you see!). But realized in the show that some of the guys were more nervous than me. I was a little buried in the mix, for sure. With 4 guitarists, I just didn't want to be too loud. We were...

My first ever live guitar solo

The very first time I've played a guitar solo live, in concert. We did 6 tunes, I was playing rhythm on all (one on ukulele), but this was just a blues tracks, all take a 12-bar turn in soloing (we were 4 guitarist, 4 horns, bass, drums, singer). Sounds partly terrible, but that it figures, nerves a...

Re: G-Dec now up and running

Only tried the very first G-Dec version those years ago. Hated it, becasue I could get a decent tone out of it, all plastic and buried in effects. Glad to hear the later version is actually very useful. Maybe I will get on one day. I am a big fan of Jim Campilongo, and he has given the thumbs up to ...

I think Arlen Roth was the guy who taught Karate Kid to play for that movie.

Re: an old freind came back home!

I was looking for a first guitar for my brother in law (aged 28) for some years, as a xmas present. Never could find some for the measly budget I set (80€ max). What I always looked for was a Yamaha C-40 as I had one for 9 years, and I really liked it all those 9 years. Sold it to a colleague, who I...

Re: Mission Trip Guitar Needed

oh, your budget is very tight! nylon strung cannot take steel strings! The fretboard might be wide but otherwise nylon strung is ok by me. Samuel james plays blues on one and i guess clapton did on unplugged too. I think martin lxme is good but out of your budget. Silent guitars might be an option (...

Re: Boss Sustain

I never really understood how I should use the compressor pedal. It seems that most are not exactly what a person wants and searching for the right one takes time and money... and in the end many guys who have great tone don't use one. I have a Line 6 constrictor. It's not noisy, it changes the tone...

thanks!
Yeah, i dig the cv guitar. The tone on the tracks could use a little hair, but lineout from mc sounds terrible unless gain knob is set low.

Re: Chromatic notes... how many you can play?

Here's the F Blues: http://www.box.com/s/i0ubr6bhhjxjp21do3k6 Actually it's straight from a lesson (trying to play the solo in the lesson). Used pretty much all the 12 notes. The take is a bit slow, I now hear, did this 2 weeks ago, just haven't had time to upload to PC and the internet... (As I sta...

I think dolphinstreet and musicradar.com both have very favourable reviews for tremless version. I think Vikings are good quality for the price.

Re: New Amp

For some reason I always thought those were too expensive for what they are (not loud enough). It's been a loooong time I tried one, but always felt they were sturdy, good quality unlike some of the competition, though. The cleans, I think, were not as tube like as I wanted. I had a Behringer copy (...

Re: Input jack now only works if I input the plug half way i

Thanks! Yeah, I did check with different cable and amp. Same result. OK, if I connect with either RED of WHITE, I get signal and hum. Like you said. If I insert the cord plug in, I get silence. If I got hum, I would understand that one of the connections is not made. But why silence? Should the RED ...

Input jack now only works if I input the plug half way in?

Hi, I was playing my electric (uke) today and suddenly slowly lost the sound. Then I was trying to get it back, I realized I can get sound if the plug is only halfway in to the input jack. But it doesn't stay in that way, so... I took the jack out, to see what it looks like... it has two lines (sold...

Re: What trem does Beck use?

I read the Beck biography but all I remember was that he said he starts a tour on light strings and then moves up to 11s as thicker strings mean better tone. His trem appears to be American series strat style, not a floyd rose, and has a roller nut. He has a Fender signature strat, and I see no reas...

Re: Recommend a Jeff Beck album

I guess Blow by Blow is the top classic (or Truth is you go to really early stuff). But he has many styles of albums... very modern, fusion, rockabilly, hard rock... I dig him on Jools Holland TV show, check those on Youtube... The other choice is to search for where he has played, instead of his ow...

Re: How should I start?

ok, i am maybe beating a dead horse, but to me caged is not opposed to minor pentatonic boxes! Caged is about playin chords (and scales) in 5 positions around the fretboard. Minor pentatonic boxes is about playing 5 positions around the fretboard. Box 1 looks like e minor chord, for example. The eas...
