Re: As confused as ever!

To quote Ken Jennings when beaten on Jeopardy by IBM's Watson computer:

"I for one welcome our new computer overlords."

Actually, Jim, I see that situation on the forum a lot.

Welcome back.

Re: Nerve damage...

Man, that sounds like it would hurt - a lot. Hope those nerves grow back quicly. Not having sensation in the fingertip seems like a real loss - for more than one reason. Hope the guitar playing works out. But like everyone else has said - don't overdo.

Oh yeah! That was great! Sometimes it's slow blues but sometimes you just have to rock.

I love the way you put all the tracks together. It seemed very intricate to me. Excellent work.

That was really cool! When I saw the subject I couldn't wait to see what you would do with a great song - but which Taj arranged for tuba and handclaps. (tuba and handclaps???! :yikes: ) Yours was a super arrangement. And I thought I heard very faint echoes of Caterpiggle Crawl.

Re: A Quiet Collaboration - Part II

Thanks for the comments everyone. I played my part on an American Standard Strat that I picked up on Ebay a couple of years ago. I used the neck pickup. Recorded through a Presonus Firestudio Mobile audio interface box. Tracked dry into the Presonus Studio One DAW. When we settled on the SONAR Home ...

A Quiet Collaboration - Part II

Well, we're back. Last November Strummer07 posted an collaboration put together by Strummer07, Golfxzq and MojoJim as our first beginner's posting to the 12bar Blues Room (see "A Quiet Collaboration"). Since then we have continued to work together. Strummer07 and Golfxzq have each posted m...

Re: Little Brown Bird

OK, as somebody who is still learning this stuff I have to ask. What does "...you can imply those (chords) without committing...." mean? My guess is that it means playing a chord fragment without the root or maybe the third. Or maybe it means leaving out the fifth or the seventh. Or maybe ...

Re: A brief introduction

Welcome to the site Avarage.

I've been learning blues guitar for about two years. If I play as well as you after another two years I will be ecstatic.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here. Great players. Great teachers. Great people. :welcome:

Re: Teach Me A Lesson

Deltabluesrookie - actually I didn't abandon the Northeast myself. My family moved south when I was about 12. So I lack most grownup knowledge of the area. But it's good to think there is somebody on the forum that lives close to my home town. You're right - it was Liverpool. It was many months ago ...

Re: Teach Me A Lesson

Hi Deltabluesrookie - I'm another guy who came back to guitar playing after giving it up in favor of family and career many years ago. I'm curious about the CDs that you bought. I like the laid back style of the guy who goes by DeltaBluesTips on YouTube. I believe he has all his lessons on DVD for s...

I believe that was a lead track, two rhythm guitar tracks, a bass track, two percussion tracks, some effects...and....and....oh, of course ---- vocals as well. That's what I call doing it all at onc...

:welcome:, DesertThorne. There's plenty of Old Dogs here - and a bunch of young pups who are coming on strong. And some really skilled players in the middle.

I think you'll enjoy it here. It's a very supportive environment for those of us working on our Blues playing skills.

Re: So it was my birthday yesterday

Happy birthday! And I hope you get some guitar gear - or some money to by it. I think we older players really appreciate the younger players who are working on their skills and their equipment. Actually, we older player probably have more gear and less skills than the younger players - at least thos...

Re: The Trainwreck Blues Band Live at Los Ojos...

Well, I think the Blues is certainly a big tent. On this video I see a band where most of the members are wearing denim jeans, cowboy shirts and western hats. And they're playing a Blues song made famous by a black artist. And they are playing in the Los Ojos bar which looks like it could have been ...

Looks like you might be lining up Albuquerque's own version of Los Lobos.

Great video - looks like a really good time. And the sound recording was also very good - surprisingly so.

Re: Roadworn...

Hi Suco,

There was a topic on the forum a few months ago by someone who distressed his guitar to make it look exactly like SRV's. But I don't remember who it was. I'll see if I can find it.

BTW, I think your English is very good.
