Re: Changing Capacitors?

Hey Leftyblues, Yes, capacitors can change your tone a lot. Capacitors in amps can store lethal amounts of electricity and are dangerous to mess with, but in a guitar you're safe to change them. Your caps come with instructions so you should be able to do the job. It's not a walk in the park and tak...

Re: hi

Hi Shandra! Welcome from another newbie. If you're a guitar hot rodder you need another one in the "hangar" for those occasions the first one is down. But who really needs an excuse to acquire another guitar? You could do worse than a Squier. The price is usually right and they make a grea...

Re: Fine motor control skills

That Jazz free form thing is supposed to be a secret so don't pass it too far! L77S hits it on the nail about practice. The best way to get your fingers doing what you want is to keep practicing. Play with a looping backing track and when your hand hurts, force yourself to listen to the loop with yo...

Re: Blackstar Boost Pedal

I can hear it. Nice!! Slight crunch and silky sustain. Gotta love them firebottles!! Ever try an attenuator on your valve amp? Kind of goes for the same effect by driving the valves harder and not allowing as much power to reach your speaker. Gives you crunch and sustain at lower volume levels. Work...

(I gotta figure out the trick you folks do here where you refer back to someones previous post when you respond) Just hit the "quote" button of the post you want to refer to and delete all words you don't need. Wise words about obsessions btw! Thanks 12bar! And btw your slide playing give...

The "shag" huh. Sounds like a scene a photographer would die for! Seeing expressions of the human spirit like that is always encouraging to me. And arthritic pain? That can be pretty overpowering wherever it crops up. I'd be screaming instead of whining. Yeah, getting old is big-time "...

Never played an Artcore. I would buy one without even playing it. The lightning bolt inlay on the headstock is enough to make me covet one.

Beautiful strat & bass Viking Blues. Guitar building can become an obsession. I think I've shaken my altering of things guitar for now. Only so much time and I'm pretty happy with what I've got for now... As far as the inside of amps goes, It is kinda scary with the stories you hear about screwd...

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'll try to answer your questions briefly and simply. First off I'm 62 and computer illiterate. I know, nobody asked that. But it may help explain my stumbling around this internet thing. I thought typewriters were pushing the limits of human capabilities! Viking Blues, ...
