Re: Out Of Reach (And Phase)

Do you still have the Jumping At Shadows backing track, i wasn't a member of the old forum so can't view the track, also do you have any other Peter Green related backing tracks i might have, thanks.

Re: Out Of Reach (And Phase)

They are stock Epi pickups, i just removed the cover and rotated the magnet in the neck pickup, voila out of phase.

Re: Out Of Phase Demonstration

Yes and as you know sadly sold it to a private collector who now has it in a glass case no doubt, so no more sweet music coming out of that beauty, shame.

Re: I don't know nothing

Couldn't miss the opportunity to share this song, it's a bonus track from the 1969 album Then Play On, Peter Green's last album with Fleetwood Mac before he left and became seriously mentally ill. The song paints a very vivid picture of the pure sadness he was feeling at the time and reaching for go...

Re: I don't know nothing

Welcome to the club! I had that Duh moment about a year ago when it came to Peter Green, now i'm hooked, the man is a genius. Some of the songs you have to check out on youtube or wherever are: Man Of The World, The Supernatural, Out Of Reach, Rattlesnake Shake, Need Your Love So Bad, Black Magic Wo...

Out Of Reach (And Phase)

Thought i would post this in the song department too. It is my improv. of Peter Green's Out Of Reach. Possibly the saddest song ever recorded by anyone ever. In case you didn't see the other thread, basically i am showing off my Out Of Phase pickups a la Green. http://12bar.de/community/download/fil...

Out Of Phase Demonstration

Hi all, I had read on several other forums what "Out Of Phase" pickups actually are and how they sound different to normal. I am by no means an expert and my knowledge comes only from what i have read on the subject. Most people know the term from Peter Green's famous 1959 Gibson Les Paul ...

The Supernatural

I decided to do a recording of Peter Green's The Supernatural. It is such an amazing song and one i really love to play along with over and over at the moment. So here it is, now obviously the main part of the song is the incredible controlled feedback to give you those long sustained notes. Not onl...

Re: Gravitating BT

Holy poopy, i think we have a hit on our hands! First of all thank you all for your amazing comments, they mean a lot. And what an honour to have harmonies played by Mr. HBL! To be honest Hank Marvin isn't particularly high on my list of influences. Although the first song i learned all the way thro...

Re: Got me a new guitar!

Congrats on your purchases. I myself just got a new gitfiddle, a 1996 Epiphone Sorrento (lefty), will post pics when she arrives. It's my first hollow body and first with P90 pickup's so i'm really excited to get to play with a whole new set of tones. Having to sell my Squier Strat though to pay for...

Re: What are you listening to now?

Can't disagree with the Peter Green & Gary Moore, they are on almost daily in my house. Also been listening to Gregor Hilden lately, has an awesome guitar collection and can play some pretty mean blues too. Don't forget Luther Allison though, seems to be very overlooked as a legend, his playing ...

Re: Gravitating BT

Been far too long since i last posted anything on this site, but as i happen to really like this song i did a little mess around recording to share with the group. Recorded in Guitar Rig 4 with my Lefty Les Paul. I really love the sweetness you can get out of this song. I didn't use the backing trac...

Re: 50s or 60s neck?

Like you said its personal preference, i find a strat neck much easier to play than a Les Paul, but i love the Les Paul sound so you learn to get used to it. A good example is Peter Green (who i saw live last month and he was amazing), he sold his '59 Les Paul to Gary Moore because he found the neck...

Re: String bending technique ?

I second the points made by 12bar and BB, the reason i play the blues is because there are no rules, if it sounds good to you, then it's good blues. Albert King, as 12bar mentioned, often played some very unusual notes choices and to my ear often sound flat or off key, that doesn't mean it sounded b...

Re: Fine motor control skills

If you play the wrong note 3 or 4 times people think you meant to do it and you're just jazz free-forming, little trick for you there :). Seriously though there are a million and one techniques for learning and i have to agree with the old school and say practice makes perfect. Guitar playing is mos...

Re: Slow Blues In D Collab. Anyone?

Well wow, thanks for your comments, more than i could of hoped to get. I actually have ADHD and if you know about the condition you will know that we notoriously lack confidence and any task we undertake cannot be less than perfect, that obviously leads to frustration and disappointment because none...

Re: Slow Blues In D Collab. Anyone?

Well i just recorded my part on the 247th take. A couple of points i'd like to make first: 1. I've only been playing for 2 years now so please excuse my playing if it seems awfully immature and sloppy, i know i have a lot of work to do but just loving the journey. 2. My mastering skills are rather l...
